talk of many things, of cabbages and kings

Gwen has been reading through the journals from the past six months or so, all day today. She's locked out of a lot of posts, but also included in a lot, being a wanderer (an accurate enough term, she supposes, but she feels more like a refugee) and a resident, if only temporarily, of the Conrad basement ( Read more... )

In the hustle and bustle to get out of the basement and into the actual hotel, Thomas Parker has somehow gotten left behind. It didn't help that he woke up from the sedation in the middle and has very little memory of the time before he saw the 'ghost'. So he's been holed up in his room for quite some time, and has finally reemerged, still a little confused. He's made it to the cafeteria, upon which he finds a woman.

Parker's friendly, when he's not, you know, positively nuts and/or completely wasted. Okay, so maybe he's had a drink or two, but that's just to calm the nerves, right?

"Right," he whispers under his breath to himself, heading her way. Then he speaks to her. "Hello."

He knows nothing of the current situation.

Gwen looks up, and smiles her best "PC Cooper" smile. Somehow, she just... feels like she should be a PC here. Keep people calm. Even though she's only been here twenty-four hours and it doesn't seem like he needs to be kept calm at the moment.

"Hullo there," she says pleasantly.

Parker grins back. There. He's talking. This is good. He's talking to a normal person, and he's normal and this is good. It's a step forward.

"I'm new... ish. Around here." He sits down across from her, realizing how awkward this conversation is going to get very shortly. But that's okay. Because there's very little crazy going on. Around him, anyway. "You?"

Considering what happened with Romana the last time they crossed paths, Bianca really has no business being in the basement, but she can't find her ward anywhere and it's starting to get to her- this edgy feeling like the bond is slipping away and she can't do anything to get a hold of it anymore. And hell, basement's been home for awhile. As much of a home as anything can be.

She's actually perched on a nearby table with a cigarette in hand. There aren't that many people down here anymore and it's not really all that big an issue if she smokes or not, or so she thinks.

She catches Gwen out of the corner of her eye and tilts her head to the side, clearly confused. "Thought you left with that other lot?" She calls out to her. Maybe she's a double- those happen a lot, but it's hard to tell these days.

Gwen stiffens a bit, lifts her chin. She kind of doesn't like being associated with Torchwood, if that's what she's talking about. Her worst fear (that the other Gwen Cooper was actually a version of herself) has just been realized.

"Torchwood, you mean?" she shakes her head. "I just got here last night."

Well... That's different. She puts the cigarette out in an ashtray she's had by her side and sort of wanders over. Not mind her if she keeps looking around shiftily like something's wrong or like she's looking for someone. It's becoming a nervous habit.

Despite not looking at her, it's clear she's addressing her, since there's... Really no one else around."But you're Gwen Cooper, right? Not some dame who just looks like her?"

"That's right," Gwen nods stiffly. This is... awkward. "PC Gwen Cooper. You have a bit of advantage over me."

In knowing what the hell is going on. In knowing her name. You pick.
