you take a mortal man

Daniel is exploring Kashtta Tower, attempting to familiarize himself with the new Torchwood base. The building is mostly empty, which unnerves him a little as he's used to large crowds milling about. He saw Toshiko and Revan briefly, but they seemed to be busy with a reddish metal creature at the time, so he decided not to distract them ( Read more... )

Eloi senses the "danger" call and rushes to Daniel's side, rather alarmed as he surveys the damage around his ward. "Daniel?" He kneels down beside him, eyebrows raised. "What the hell happened?"

The whole situation is mildly frightening. ...Which may be somewhat of an understatement. Okay, a big understatement, in Eloi's case.

Daniel's... not quite shaken up, but definitely feeling out of sorts. He sits up and does a quick bodily damage check, for his own peace of mind as well as Eloi's. He doesn't have a scratch on him, although his clothing is a lot more frayed than it was a minute ago. "I think I'm okay," he says, still baffled. "I'm... not quite sure what just happened. I think I fell through the floor somehow."

His eyes track upwards to the hole in the ceiling and the one above it. It's not a huge drop, but there should be a ceiling and a floor there.

Eloi stares up at the hole as well, arching his eyebrows. "That's... weird," he states after a moment. "Could have something to do with the Rift, what it did to you when you came through." He doesn't recall Daniel ever mentioning if he'd figured out what it had done to him. Frowning, he adds, "Although I can't think of any power that would make you fall through the floor at random."

The dust is still settling as Daniel finally gets to his feet and begins to move towards the nearest stairwell. He wants to check out the room above, survey the damage, make sure nothing important got damaged. The more he looks at it, the more it looks like an implosion, not an explosion.

"I thought I'd already found out my, er, power," he says to Eloi, still a little skeptical about random supernatural abilities. Most of his experience with magic and such has turned out to be technology in disguise, so you can't really blame him. "When Toshiko deactivated my subdermal transmitter, there was a moment where I could see through everything. Like x-ray vision, but not as... low-quality." He shakes his head. "I'm pretty sure I did this, though. I just don't know how."
