Romeo does his job well. Not that he likes the word. Job. From reigning terror in Italy to recruiting for the Organization al around the world in Chicago, currently. The second one loses the proper ring to who he is. Nevertheless, it's true. He does work for the Organization. As boring as work sounds, he enjoys it. More than reigning terror (most ( Read more... )

Annie's been in the lobby for a while now. The upstairs lobby, that is. She managed to sneak onto the elevator when someone was heading up, and since then has been lurking in a potted plant upstairs while waiting for Rusty.

So Rusty, don't be alarmed when a dragon the size of a small cat flies up from behind you and lands on your shoulder, wings spread to balance herself for a moment before she scrambles into your coat. Annie's a bit of a chicken. And when the local first angel is all geared up for a killing spree, she's certainly not going to hang around.

Rusty, unfortunately, does not know how to not be alarmed when things fly at him by surprise from behind.

"Je-e-esus," is what comes out of his mouth as he spazzes right in the middle of the hotel lobby, hands and legs flailing upward in a horribly failed attempt to block himself from the thing that's hit him.

Then he realizes just what- well, who is trying to get into his coat and he relaxes, marginally. At least, he stops spazzing and whispers down at her, "Little warning next time, sis?"

He adjusts the coat so she's better hidden and it's hopefully more comfortable for them both. Rusty scans the place where she flew from.

"The hell's Becky at?" Yeah, he knows enough from their time spent at the hospital that Annie wouldn't leave without her girl.

Annie grumbles slightly at the request for warning and curls up against his chest. How exactly was she supposed to warn him anyway?

She freezes a little at the question. Annie's not the best at really thinking things through when she's scared and in dragon form. Damn it. She pops up from his coat holding a keycard between her teeth, and motions with her head toward the elevator. Although now that she thinks about it, Rusty going downstairs isn't the best idea. A really bad idea, actually.

Damn it damn it damn it.

"Ah, shit. Annie. You gotta be kiddin' me."

Yeah, the two frightened demonic sibling pair are going to walk down into a nest of archangels.

This is a very bad idea. And boy, does Rusty recognize bad ideas when he sees 'em. He's made them up often enough in the past.

"I mean. Really. Are you sure about this? We go down there... we die-" He stops, because he's stupid, but not that stupid to realize when there's no other option. Not if he wants to get out of there with his sister. And he does care about Becky. He just thinks she has a better chance of surviving or remaining under archangel radar. "And yeah you know that and wanna go down there anyway ( ... )

Buffy needed to get out of the Main Gauche for a little while. After a while, it just got claustrophobic. If it were night, she'd be looking for some kind of monster to kill - since vampires are apparently not the problem here that they are back home - but as it is, she's just out for a walk. It's not exactly exciting, but at least she feels like she can breathe now.

And then, of course, there's some guy sitting on the sidewalk. "You know," she comments, "someone's going to trip over you. And I won't feel bad about it."

Yes, she really is bored. Talking to random strangers on the street.

Romeo senses her power before he sees her, but he doesn't turn to look at her until she speaks to him. She must be a wanderer. They're always harder to sense just the true meanings of their powers, but she's definetly... strong. And cute.

He smiles up at her, blocking the sun with his hand to get a clear view.

"You're right." he says in that helplessly heavy Italian accent of his, quirking his head to the side. "I should probably move, yes?"

But he doesn't. Not just yet.

She blinks a little at the accent. Wonders if it's real, and then her lips quirk into a slight smile despite herself. "Well, unless you enjoy people tripping over you... I don't know about you, but it's not exactly a hobby of mine. What're you doing sitting in the middle of the sidewalk anyway?"

"Not a hobby of mine. Not yet anyway. But maybe I should... try it sometime." Romeo smirks, a little, not serious about that, obviously, and stands, finally, turning his face to the Main Gauche, again, before his gaze is drawn inevitably back to her.

And he smiles at her, again.

"Wondering about that apartment complex across the street. If it's a good place to live or not, you know? I just arrived in the city. Living in a hotel right now, but it is... expensive."

Not that he doesn't have endless amounts of funds when he needs it, but cover stories don't often rely on much truth.

"You were going to fucking leave us here."

The voice comes from behind Romeo and even though the person who was speaking knows that Romeo would be able to sense him coming, it still brings him satisfaction to say it from behind.

"You were going to have us sit in this fucking city until we killed ourselves."

And maybe his hand is on his gun, just maybe, but he won't pull it out because that would be making a scene and he doesn't really want to do that.

Well, not really.

Romeo rolls his eyes, but doesn't even bother standing up or turning around.

"If you'll remember correctly, Christian, I am not the leader. I am not your boss." He continues to stare ahead at the Main Gauche. "I do not decide what you do or don't do. I only recruit people for the big, fun team. It was not my decision to leave you here. Either of you."

He's getting dangerously close to saying fuck all about making a scene, if anyone deserved bullets, it was this guy.

He closes his eyes and takes in a deep breath. And then another because that first deep breath did shit to calm him down

"I know," he says and his tone sounds more than little forced. "But they aren't here, are they? You're the only one around, although I'm guessing they aren't too far behind. Did they...Are you guys moving shop?"

Romeo might just put up a fight over it. It's not as if bullets can kill him and he'd be pissed about the holes in his shirt.

He nods, turning back to him with a smirk.

"New management," he says, quietly. "I'm not sure they meant to leave you here so much as they forgot. Or didn't realize you had been left."
