Jack makes it to the lobby at a run just as
Romana's contingent of archangels has gathered, and shuts the elevator down with his wrist device as Romana's approaching it. Oh, this is bad on angles he can't even name, and he is not looking forward to dealing with this clusterfuck.
Doesn't mean he's not going to. Elashte's a good guy, if the way he helped them out during the Plague is any indication, and he's not about to let him be murdered because Romana can't get her head out of her holy war long enough to see the light of day.
"You two stay back," he says - because of course Sam and Gwen have followed him out here, and of course this is the sort of situation that could turn ugly on the spin of an electron.
And then he wades directly into the fray.
"Romana Angelos," he snaps, full parade-ground voice, commanding attention. Not that she's liable to be impressed by that, but it just might catch her attention. "Stand down. No one is dying today."
He doesn't move for his weapon. In a company of archangels, that'd be tantamount to suicide, and he really doesn't want to deal with that right now.
