There are a few people mulling about the Conrad today.
Lavendar is curled up in the common room. She doesn't look nearly as lively as she normally does, and she seems even distant. She's only just heard of Penny's death (she had been out and about with her park children) and now she's come back, in hopes that, maybe, it was all some horrible lie

"Looks like that hurts," she says gesturing to his wrist, "you alright?"
Reply
"Actually, it doesn't." But he doesn't even want to think about the day he actually obtained the injury. It's never a pleasant feeling to have bones shattered. "But I am, yes."
He looks to his own cup of coffee before glancing back up to her and closing the files, "Would you like a cup? Or would you rather tea?" He could very well make both, if needed.

Actually, she's kinda at that point as is, but she's refraining from kissing everyone who looks like they need a kiss. They might get hugged though. Randomly. And with much enthusiasm.
"I'm just lookin' for some company," she admits with a smile, "and you looked like you'd rather be doin' anything but whatever it was you was doin', so I thought I'd see if you'd mind a distraction. If you really wanna get back'ta your work though, I can go."
Here Ianto, have a ridiculously happy Rose. Who just might hug you randomly.

He straightens some of the papers in the files before stacking them and setting them aside, "Paperwork is always a fine joy." Though there is sarcasm dripping from every syllable. Really.
Random hugs? Well, Ianto might be a little hesitant, but she might get a friendly, one-armed hug in return. It takes a little bit to get past his surface, but he'll warm up eventually.

Creeping up as quietly as he can, Avery curls his arms around her as best he can. "Looks like y'need a hug," he says softly and he might even nuzzle at her a little, hoping it might make her smile the way it makes Zacky.

Sniffling and snuggling against him a little, she goes quiet for a few good moments. It doesn't take long before she's speaking up again, "Why... why do people... good people go 'n' die...?"
Reply
He tilts his head towards her, smiling a little. "An' some people just getta' go early n' some people don't."
He doesn't really know what he's talking about, Avery's never really been close with anyone but his brother and while the concept of death wasn't particularly new to them it was also something that managed to remain unexplored at the same time, at least in Avery's mind.

Looking up to him, she nods her head slowly, seeming to calm down just a slight. The sorrow is still evident on her face, though-- Penny was her near mother. She couldn't fathom that the woman was actually gone.
"But she was so nice..."

"How absolutely adorable!" she squeals like a little girl, rushing forward to pet it (him, Gladys, him) with her forefinger. "Do you do this often?" she asks him directly.

And then the petting commences. He quacks with much discontent and tries to hobble away from her hand. When he's put some distance (hopefully! Maybe?) between himself at the woman, there's another soft quack given. One that might sound vaguely like a no-why-in-the-bleedin'-world-would-i?
But that's just him being flaily. Even his feathers are ruffled at it.

Because Gladys does not deal well with flaily and panic. It tends to irritate her. Nice choice of a new residence, Gladys.

But he holds very still when she touches his head and quacks softly again. This time, it's not nearly as flustered as before, but it's more defeated, confused. How? After all, even he didn't know how this happened.
