Katie has been walking around the Main Gauche, trying to familiarise herself with the layout, it’s a habit which has grown over the last year.

She’s rather unsure of herself lately; having only been around one demon before and that demon was related to her… Though some of the people here might be related to her somehow, some people might be her ( Read more... )

Lola is bored, which is never, under any circumstance, a good thing. She's only in the gardens, because she's debating whether to go out, track down some ice cream, and maybe find someone to torture, because it's been awhile since she did anything related to her calling, and that bugs her.

All debate stops, however, when she spies Katie. Young demon, definitely new, because she hasn't seen her before. Fun.

"Hi!" She says cheerfully, bounding over to her. Normally, she'd be more cautious, but she looks ickle, and therefore not much of a threat to a more experienced demon like herself... We'll ignore the fact that she's only twenty-three and not really that experienced. "I'm Lola. Who are you?"

Katie jumps and spins around, clamping down on the urge to reach for one of the miscellaneous sharp objects on her person when she sees Lola.

Yes she's fast but she prefers not to go for other Demons... Mainly on the principle that deep down she still believes all of them to be capable of eternal damnation and other such things.

Of course if this was true she'd also be able to cause eternal damnation... This hasn't occurred to her quite yet, nor has the fact that not all types of eternal damnation involve fire and brimstone.

She's lived a very sheltered life.

"Hello" she finally mutters when her hearts stopped pumping "I'm Catherine Janson... Katie, I really prefer Katie."

It's best to get her off that subject quick, while there's still time.

"Okay," Lola says, still ridiculously cheerful in a way that's probably 85% false and any Glaysa-Labolas would be able to tell you that, so clearly that eliminates that from whatever type of demon Katie could be. "Katie, it is."

Yeah, this is how Lola gets to know people- she comes on strong and adorable and then hits them where it hurts... Well, not with other demons, of course, but doing this at least determines who is a threat and who isn't. Or something.

She perches herself on a nearby bench and rests her elbows on her knees with her chin in her hands. "You new here? I haven't seen you around."

Katie's once response would have been to bounce and rant... Now her usual response is to stand around and mutter a lot.

But she's trying, honestly.

Or as much as Katie can try these days.

So instead of muttering something to her feet she looks up, smiles in a way that is only faintly insinsere and nods "Yep, just got here from my aunts place, she told me that there were a lot of demons down here and..." Katie spreads her arms, a little more insincerity making it's casual way into her expression "Ta da!"

There is such a thing as trying too hard.

Here Katie. Have a Charun named Kate who is not nervous, but restless.

Since killing Brando with her partner, she hasn't killed anyone. They haven't gotten any new jobs and she hasn't run into anyone that set off her killing filter.

It's frustrating.

Kate raises her eyebrows at the giggling. "What's so funny?"

Katie shuts up at once, straightens and goes right back to her default state of looking worried and about to run.

She'll start to act like a proper Charun soon, the narration promises.

Hopes.

"Nothing much, just... Nothing" lip bite, stare... Yeah, Katie recognises that this woman is a demon, a demon probably much more powerful then she is and she's rather frightened by that.

Excuse her, she's new to this.

Kate keeps her eyebrows raised, especially at the abrupt change. Obviously nervous. That much is not hard to tell.

"Hold up. You don't have to be so freaked, kid." It's not hard to tell that she's young, that she probably hasn't much experience with other demons. "You're new, right?"

Katie gives her one of those wide eyed, cautios looks that clearly says that she's a step away from complete terror and then finally nods in a doubtful way "Yeah, just got here from my relatives in Utah."

Yes, her aunt is the only other demon who she's had any experience with... And since her aunt was far too lazy to get involved with anything apart from the occasional kill she can hardly be said to have a comprehensive experience of demons.

But she's heard enough to be a little frightened of other demons, she has good reason.

Even if she is starting to enjoy killing people.
