Jack is home!

Friggin' finally. And it's only by the grace and cars of Neqa'el demons (and demons who look far too much like Doctors he's known for his comfort) that he's arrived here, and only by virtue of psychic paper and an Authoritative Voice that he's gotten himself into the basement to see anyone. He's now moving through the lobby and ( Read more... )

Liz is extremely glad to be back in the basement, extremely glad.

But still a little cautious because it was a Plague and you learn to be a little cautious about things like that when you work with potentially deadly stuff every single day.

Or at least used to work with dangerous stuff every day.

Anyway, she’s in the Common room, sitting on a couch… With her shield buzzing away happily.

She’s vaguely noted Jack but hasn’t really been paying that much attention to him…

What she should be paying attention to is her shield, it’s not currently that big but it’s gone slightly golden and could be noticed by somebody…

Not that That could provide too much of a problem.

Jack spots her, and spends a moment wondering if he should interrupt. She looks like she's minding her own business, and he's got no reason to suspect that anything is amiss. Though he does wonder what's got the woman so on edge that she's projecting a glowing energy shield.

Liz chooses that moment to look up, spot Jack looking at her and stare at him for a few confused seconds before noticing the fact that her shield is glowing.

Oh, damn.

She lets out a rather audible groan, drops the shield and turns around to face the man, smiling in a slightly embarrassed way.

"Sorry about that."

Make that a very embarrassed way.

Jack grins, waving it off. "Weren't bothering me," he says - then tallies up the people he knows who can project shields, makes an educated guess, and strolls up to extend his hand. "Dr. Shaw, I presume? Captain Jack Harkness."

Sam's not entirely certain he's glad to be back in the basement. After being upstairs for so long, there's a decidedly claustrophobic feeling down here. Maybe it's the lack of windows. But he's focused enough on the problem of tracking Hart, finding out if he's hurt anyone else, that he's able to ignore it for the first part.

He was looking for Gwen, a handful of printed-out police reports and the like in his hands - she used to be a police officer, after all, and he hasn't spoken to her since the secondary quarantine was put in effect. Instead, he turns a corner and gets Jack, which he wasn't expecting but is just as good.

"Jack! Good to see you back." In the basement. Where local law enforcement can't notice him and apprehend him because a murderer used his face.

"Good to be back," Jack says, stuffing both hands into his pockets and swinging around to see Sam. "One of Elashte's demons was bold enough to give me a ride back in." He glances down to the papers Sam is holding. It's not unusual to see him with a fistful of some documentation or other, and it's actually somewhat heartening, now. "Making progress?"

"Yes, actually." Sam shuffles through the papers to find a few of the more important documents to show him. "Penny's been tracking the killer - we got her a map. Nick Angel was able to get us a sketch from some psychic residue on Ms. Vassey's body" -he hands over the appropriate paper, having decided he's just going to slide on by the whole 'psychic residue' part without thinking about it too much- "and I found a few police reports that might be connected."

He locates another paper and hands it over - a police report this time, about a bar disturbance. "That's the earliest I've been able to find. You should look at it."

There are... reasons. Some of the details in that report raise a few suspicions, but he'll let Jack read it first and see if he picks up on them too.

"Great," Jack says, taking the documents as they're offered and reading through them. He glances at the picture - "There was someone in here who looked almost exactly like this," he mentions. "Had a dog with him. Didn't strike me as the crazed killer type, though - more the hip university student type. Textbooks and everything. Still, you might want to keep an eye out for him." - and then reads the police reports, skimming them for important details.

...and then reads one particular one again.

Looks at Sam, raises a cautious eyebrow. "Is it just me," he says, flashing the relevant document, "or does this sound a lot like someone we know? The younger woman in the bar here."

Daniel is in the common room, people-watching and memorizing faces. He's still in his Atlantis uniform, and he has a feeling that the stars on his collar are intimidating people into avoiding him... well, those and probably his sidearm. The P90 and most of his offworld gear is stashed away in his new room, but he's kept the knife, Desert Eagle, and zat.

He doesn't know what Captain Harkness looks like, but he's sure the man will turn up sometime.

Fortunately, Jack's pretty easy to spot. It's the greatcoat. Hasn't helped him blend into a crowd since the 1940's.

The uniform is easy to spot, too, and Jack pretty easily narrows it down to the general species and time period. The specifics elude him, but it's got enough design features in common with other uniforms that he can make a guess, at least. He walks up, tiltig his head to read the man's expression.

"'scuse me. General Jackson?"

If not, he's going to be kinda confused. How many generals can come strolling through the Rift at any given time?

Daniel straightens as he is approached. "Yes, that would be me. I assume that you are Captain Harkness. Detective Inspector Roy recommended that I speak with you."

Revan, in her usual Jedi way, sense Jack's return. Grinning insanely, she hurries out of the training room and surprises him by hugging him from behind.

"Welcome back," She says, cheerfully.

Ohh, she's *horribly* attached to him now. The Council would not approve.

Ahh, hugs from behind. Once he's over the initial shock, Jack really des wonder why Torchwood doesn't have so many of those.

As soon as her grip loosens, he turns around and hugs her back. (Hey, you never turn down free hugs, unless you think the person is going to pickpocket, stab, or taser you. Shoot is negotiable based on the efficacy of the firearm for short-range action.) "Thanks," he says warmly. "It's good to be back. And good to see that the basement survived my absence."

He's half-joking. It's more Romana and tha plague he's worried about than his absence.

Revan grins. "The plague never got very far in most of us. Stage 3, I think, was as far as it went." Shrugging, she adds, "I put myself in a healing trance as soon as I got sick. I was out for three days."

"It's good to know there's a cure," She states. "But, enough about the superflu; how are you doing?"

"Well... aside from the fact that an alternate-universe version of myself's developed a murdering, face-stealing stalker ex, I'm doing pretty well," he says. It's impressive how much levity he says it with - then, sometimes, in Torchwood, this sort of thing seems to happen every alternate Sunday. Of course, in Torchwood, he had considerably more resources.

"How about you?" he asks. "All quiet on the Western front?"

He may mean Martha when he says that.
