He'll rekindle all those dreams it took you a lifetime to destroy...

Recent news reports have understandably gotten one Desmond Descant far more tense than he should be. It's an all-too familiar scene for him that hits far too close to home. Well, maybe no one's ever actually used his face to commit a murder and potentially frame him for it, but he's been manipulated into doing some things that turned out really bad ( Read more... )

Kara doesn't really... approach Des. That's a much too tame word for what she does in this particular instance. What actually happens is that she races down the hallway toward him, quick and absolutely silent, and bulls into him, grabbing him by the shoulders perhaps a little too roughly and shoving him back against the nearest wall.

"NO," she says firmly into his face, as if she's scolding a particularly naughty puppy. He hasn't even done anything yet, but he's thinking about it, and that's enough.

Des is stunned, which goes without saying... Because it's not every day that people come along and pin him to walls like that... Especially not people like Kara, but then again he should learn to expect these kinds of things from her. It's Kara.

"What did I do?" He asks, tone somewhere between indignant and freaked out.

Des, don't ever ask questions like that of Kara, especially when you know the answer anyway. It'll just make her look at you like you're a moron... Moreso than usual.

And yes, there is that "you are such an idiot" look. She tightens her grip on his shoulders for just a second - and she's not very good at controlling her strength since coming through the Rift, so it's likely to leave some interesting fingerprint-like bruises - and then releases him, though she doesn't step back. She's still very close to him, and for Des to try to make a break for it would be very unwise.

"Nothing. Yet. Idiot." That's why she said no. Because he's not allowed to.

He wouldn't have tried to run anyway. He's sadly lacking in common sense, but he's not nearly that idiotic. He winces a little when she releases him and just stares at her for a minute, contemplating what to say since playing dumb isn't going to work... And really, the fact that he thought it would just proves what an idiot he can be at times.

"So I'm supposed to sit back and let someone else handle it?" There's no pretext. There doesn't need to be. Not with her.
