Romana is... not quite hunting. Because hunting implies that she intends to kill something (at least, when it's Romana). She is, however, stalking through the basement like some great predatory cat, searching for one person in particular. She knows who fixed the elevator in the first place, when it was destroyed. Therefore, she has a pretty good ( Read more... )

Tosh blinks a little, because she really hadn't expected to be randomly accosted in the lobby by someone she's never met before. The name rings a bell, though, and Tosh's expression shifts from confused to just a little cautious.

She has no particular feelings for the woman one way or the other, but she's well aware that there are quite a few people who aren't fond of her for one reason or another, many of them probably with good reason.

"Did you need something?" There should probably be a 'nice to meet you' or something in there, but she's a little distracted from politeness by the way the woman's holding her arm. She resists the urge to try and yank it away.

Mat was in the cafeteria less than fifteen seconds ago. He barrels in, through two or three archangels, and skids to a halt in front of Sam.

He takes stock of the situation in about half a second, and before anyone can blink, he's got Romana shoved up against a wall by the neck.

He doesn't know what happened, but he knows she did it. "Don't touch him," he growls, and it's amazing how, when pressed to it, he can actually be intimidating. Not to Romana, of course, but in general.

Somewhere in the heat of all this, one of the archangels decided it'd be a good idea to go get Vincent and drag him back since he handled this so well the last time ( ... )

It was only surprise, really, that kept Romana from reaching up and breaking Mat's neck where he stands. Guardian angels do not attack her. Angels at all do not attack her. Luckily for Mat, Vincent intervenes before Romana recovers herself.

Her hackles have risen now, her fangs, metaphorically speaking, bared, and she doesn't relax when Vincent speaks to her, looking like she's still contemplating lunging forward and killing Mat, or Sam, or Gwen, or whoever else happens to get in her way.

"Sooner or later, Vincent," she growls softly, "I'm going to have to start questioning your loyalty here. They put the basement under quarantine while Taylor Barnam is upstairs." Taylor is one of her adopted angel kids. Vincent should know how protective she gets of her kids. He was one of them.

Gwen, ignoring Vincent's orders to stay put, steps past the various angels and walks quickly to kneel down beside Sam. "Are you alright?" she asks softly. And then... no, he's not alright. He got thrown into a doorframe and is bleeding from the back of his head. "Fuck. Sit still."

"I'm fine," Sam says with a grimace, reaching up to touch the back of his head. "Looks worse than it is."

Mat's wings are ruffled up, making him seem even bigger than usual, and he glares at Romana for a few moments longer before turning away and crouching next to Gwen and Sam.

"Fuck," Mat whispers, and suddenly, he's scared little Mattie again, trying not to freak out. "Shit. Shit. Um... I can get you to the medical room, I want someone to, I dunno... does he need stitches, d'you think?"

Not panicking. Really.

Vincent stands up a little straighter even though he wants to wince and cower just a bit. Oh yeah, he knows full well what she's talking about, and hell he's fond of the little anglet himself ( ... )

Gwen looks up as Sam waves Mat off, and manages not to roll her eyes at the question. If people would just listen to her the first time around... Not that she was here. Not that she blames him. But she's angry and annoyed and it's all she can do to stay calm.

"There's a secondary quarantine area being organized upstairs, or she can go to a clinic where they're prepared to deal with this. She can go to either of those places and be just as safe as she would be down here, but we can't send anyone upstairs or let anyone new down."

He frowns and looks to Romana, lowering his voice a bit... More out of force of habit than not wanting to be overheard. It's not like what he's saying is private or anything.

"We got anyone on the outside? Someone who can take care of her until it's over?"

It's not that he doesn't trust humans with her. He does, but considering her birthday's coming up and this might not be over before then, he knows they'd both would be more comfortable if she was around another angel. Sure, that angel won't be her and that's bound to make her pissy, but it's better than handing her off to some crackpot who'd freak out the second she starts growing wings.

Romana clenches her jaw, thinking quickly, surveying the faces in the room. Most of their angels, she's seeing here. She may be missing one or two, but as far as she can tell...

"Not to my knowledge. One or two local angels, but I don't know any of them beyond one conversation." She spoke at least briefly with most of the angels in town after Brando died, and Robin would have a list, but she doesn't want Taylor with strangers and she doesn't want her upstairs, she wants her here, with her. As if she's going to be able to do anything to protect Taylor from a plague.

Vincent swears under his breath and runs a hand through his hair, his dark wings twitching perceptively. "All my contacts are scattered and I haven't got a single guy on me in the city, so that's no good."

Placating Romana is hard, especially when it comes down to the fact that if it wouldn't compromise everyone, he'd be more than willing to shimmy his ass up that elevator shaft and grab her. Well, it works in the movies.

"We'll figure something out," he adds hastily. "Hopefully, in ways that don't involve anyone else gettin' bloodied up tonight."

"You realize your boys are completely useless?" Romana snaps at him, surveying the room, and then shakes her head in disgust. "Take care of this, Vincent. Talk to Robin, do something. Make sure she's safe. I need to..."

Get out of this room before she kills someone. "You know where to find me," she mutters before sweeping out of the room and down the hall, past Gwen, Sam and Mat without so much as a glance, and toward her room. Gwen watches her as she goes like she's considering lunging for her throat, but she has much better self control than certain two thousand year old angels, and stays put.

Vincent nods slowly and then the second she's out of the room, he smacks his forehead and mutters something under his breath that might be in a completely different language, although English keeps creeping into it, which makes it sound something like a mumbled threat towards every archangel who has ever worked with him in the past, relating how he's going to tear their feathers out one by one like he's plucking a freakin' chicken until they learn to listen to him.

And when that's over, he heaves the sigh of a more than slightly defeated captain and looks over at the Torchwood lot for a moment, particularly Mat.

"You've got stones, kid, but if you do that again, I'm gonna to let her break your arm."

He's out before Mat can retort to that, because he doesn't have time to concern himself with the affairs of guardians and their wards. He's got to... Find Robin, make some calls, and do something about this and hopefully once again keep Romana from killing someone.

Oh the wonders of damage control. At least it's better than paperwork.

Gwen sighs and rubs at her forehead, wondering just why it is these things always happen at the worst possible times. Painkillers. She's definitely grabbing some painkillers at the first opportunity. Speaking of which...

She turns to Mat, rising slowly to her feet. "Get him to the medical room. There should be at least one of the doctors there, and if there's not, I'll get Owen or JD."

"I don't need-" Sam begins, and Gwen turns to give him a quelling glare.

"Do I look like I care whether you need it?" Apparently when angry, Gwen is aggressively concerned about her team members. Sam decides to accept this and not argue any further.
