I really need to read this series, pardon my ignorance but....what the hell is it about? Everyone keeps saying how great it is but no one is giving a plot, genre or anything! Please tell me!

Ah! :D I was confused, too, at first, and bought them only after Hikki gave them a glowing review... that mentioned 'vampires' and 'great characters'. XD ( ... )
