We've got a lot going on at Beyond The Buzz. dw_moffett will be facing the Television Critics Association next week for Hidden Palms. We can't wait to see what they have to say about this Kevin Williamson project that you'll be seeing soon on the CW network.

drew_waters, star of Inspector Mom, has some big auditions (including some for a Samuel L. Jackson project) ( Read more... )

I don’t know if you can help me with this question but here it goes:
How can a person with a chemistry degree but part on the student theatre (With lots of dramatic arts students) get more involved or launched into the business. Because going to auditions (when we hear of them) without representation is a long long shot.

Thank you in advance

I'm sorry it's taken me a few days to get to this. I don't usually really handle the audition end with clients. I'm the one who publicizes them and markets them.

I have a couple of clients who had no formal training outside professional acting classes. They just started going to auditions and pushing through. Good head shots are really important to take with you so make sure to have a good photographer get some of you. And be confident when you go in to audition. You never know what impression you might make!

A lot in this business is who you know. See if you can set yourself up to meet people involved (even on the outside fringes, crew, etc..) and then you might have a chance too. Perhaps be willing to volunteer if there is any local filming going on in your area. Production Assistants or gophers - it'll get a foot in the door to see how things work.

Break a leg with it! And feel free to come back and ask anytime. I'll get answers from people I know if I don't have them myself.

Thank you for your response. I’m thinking of taking a “real” acting course now. About volunteering - I would love to be on a set, for free doesn’t matter, I would do background action - anything, I just want to be involved in this environment. When I have a DVD I always watch the extras, BTS, screen tests, the writer, the producer, who that works, all that interests me a lot.
Thanks once again for your inspiring answer.
