your paper heart stopped beating, leaving me suddenly alone

[In this hall was have 1 (one) Hobollen, dashing down the hall. It might be difficult to tell it's him, just because he almost never actually runs like this, for much of any reason ( Read more... )

[That. is one way to make him stop in his tracks. Just gonna glance down the hall where he felt-more-than-saw Allen run down.]

Sprout...?

[Still staring into that empty room, breaths coming in quick and shallow little intakes. No-- this wasn't happening, it wasn't-- it couldn't, right? Sleeper had been fine, he'd just seen him - her(?), really, thanks to tea shenanigans... - the other day, Sleeper was perfectly okay then...

Sorry bro, might need to try that again.]

[Well, shit, this can't be good. Approaching cautiously.]

[He catches it this time, and his head snaps up; and instantly his lips pull back in a growl, far too much teeth visible for it to mean that Spy's found himself in a decent situation.]

My fucking name is Allen!!

[He followed him part of the way, because whatever is going down, it is Not Good, and Hobo's reaction to the empty room just wrenches the concern up another twenty notches.

He approaches from down the hall, but he's not trying to draw attention to his presence. He has no idea what's going on here...]

[It probably doesn't help much that Hobo here didn't seem to notice Mean following him AT ALL, which, for him, is... kind of off, with how much he brags about his hearing.

He does notice Mean after staring into the empty room for a few moments though, head snapping up to stare at him, eyes wide - he catches sight of brown hair before he actually looks at Mean, and for a moment he looks so damn hopeful... but it comes crashing down the instant he realizes that this Allen is too young - that his eyes aren't right, and that he has Innocence.

It was just Mean...]

...You're not.. [Damn it, why the hell aren't you... why can't you be--?!]

[He pauses once he's been spotted. He doesn't seem to care about Hobo's obvious disappointment when he realizes who he's looking at-- it's not hard to tell whatever's happened has something to do with another Allen, but he's not exactly aware of who Hobo's been close to.]

...What's going on?

[Making a sound as he lifts a hand to press the heel of it to his forehead, still staring at Mean - mostly somewhere around his forehead than his actual face, because he almost looks right if he does - but his head tilts back to the room, and he peers inside again.

It... it was still empty. Even after looking away, it was still...]

He wasn't... He's not...

[Placing a hand over Allen's. The one that nearly ripped that poor door off of it's hinges. He doesn't say anything right away because he knows that if Allen didn't hear him coming before (which would mean something was really really wrong), then he'd at least know who it is right now. Just... giving him a few seconds to compose himself]

[He... doesn't really react to Lavi's hand there at first, gaze still locked on the empty room. Lavi should know who the room belongs to, though (or used to); he's probably seen Hobo here coming and going over the past few months too, with varying frequency.]

Allen... [He still doesn't look up, and his hand start shaking beneath Lavi's.] It's... It's Allen's... [Even if he hasn't reacted to Lavi much, he obviously knows it's him.] He's not... [Defaulting back to Allen's proper gender, since... he sees him more as that than he did the whole girl thing anyway.]

[Wrapping one arm around Allen's waist and trying to lightly, gently tug him away from the door. No sudden movements. No jerks or pulls. But he desperately wanted to get Allen back to their room - where he could wrap him up in things that were familiar and warm. Anything to help ease the pain of what was to come]

[Yes, he knew who's room that was. And yes, he knew that the bare walls and lack of furniture - the lack of personal effects at all could only mean one thing. Allen and Allen's unborn child had left the Dressing Room]

I know... I know... [Refusing to give voice to what they both knew had happened. That would just make it worse]

Just... come with me, Allen. Okay. Just for a bit.

[His grip tightens on the door briefly - but only for the first half a second, because after that he lets go of it entirely, backing away from the room just a bit and closer towards Lavi.

He muffles a far more than miserable sound with his closed lips, and lifts a hand to his mouth. Still staring at the empty room - where he knew Sleeper's bed should be, where Allen should be, quiet and smiling and ready to listen to every little thing that he had to say. Where that tiny little heartbeat should be, the little thing inside of his Allen that had it's own ping and was the reason he knew that Sleeper was gone so soon.]

Why isn't...? [He won't resist if Lavi tries to guide him away - but he'll keep staring at the doorway to the room until he can't anymore.

[He knew something was up. He could sense his twin's heartbreak halls away, something that had been a constant state he could do nothing about. Because he always knew a little too late. But this time he was close enough that it might make a difference.

Allen is in the same hall in an instant, taking a few cautious steps toward Allen. He can tell from the sounds that the person that was gone - one of them - was close to his twin, really close like the angel. And he knows how badly that hurts.

Taking a few more steps toward him, then he's there beside him with a sad and curious noise.]

[Twin's presence probably makes an impact sooner than anyone else's does, and Hobo lifts his head, staring at him for a good, long moment. He-- he wants to say that his Allen is gone, and have it make perfect sense. For it to mean more than the words do... but he knows that his Twin might not know about his Allen. What he (she? He's still so conflicted about that) meant. What-- what that little life had meant.

But he has no words to make these thoughts known. No possible way of properly conveying just how damn much his Allen had meant.]

...H-he's gone.

[The ping helps. But his twin had never even known about Sleeper, never a whisper of a name or anything, just a scent and now he can't even really put that to a face. The pain is familiar and that's enough, enough for him to silently reach out and tug on Allen's sleeve. Gently, guiding, trying to pull him into his arms.

He smiles weakly in a pained way that says he knows it hurts, wrapping his arms around his twin and hiding his nose in his hair.]

I'm sorry, Allen. You shouldn't lose anyone. [And really, he felt that for his twin more than he did himself. The fifties child had had people that cared for him at home, his twin...didn't and it hurt knowing that. Not pity, never, but just that he found people here and then lost them. It hurt.]

[Slowly letting himself be drawn closer, though he does resist a little. That weird need to be near the room, find some kind of scent, something, just... something.

Winding an arm around his Twin as well, though he's still kind of glancing back at the room. The sound... just gets worse, with the closer proximity to his twin's own ping. The heartbreak, the utter sorrow - and he's trying to beat it down, but it isn't even working.]

Don't go... [Home, maybe - or just away right now. Both conjure equally heartbreaking images for him, when he feels so utterly alone.]
