There are unfortunately always going to be stereotypes and double standards. But think of it on the bright side... You're helping break through them by riding a sports bike. So while you're out there having fun riding your bike or making guys feel like idiots in the bike store because there's a girl that knows more about a bike than they do, you can feel like your doing good by helping to erase that image. How about that? Oh yeah, 8 days!!
today was my last day on earth as a plumber. I was joking around with some electricians on a job site that i've been at for a while, and while everyone calls me "preacher" there, they must not have put two and two together. I was joking them, saying that their wires were going to get in our way, and they were joking me, saying that pvc is pretty easy to saw through. I said, "well, it doesnt matter, because this is my last day anyways." "oh really? what are you going to do? em effer em eff em effedy eff eff." "I'm going to be an associate minister at a church in d.c."
Jaws drop.
Wasn't even looked at by anyone the rest of the day. I'm glad that you can look at how your stereotyped with humour, because that's really all you can do. It's probably just as surprising to meet a preacher who works construction as it is to find a woman who rides a motorcycle and works in a bike shop. So, what I'm saying is, I'm praying for you Becky, I'm glad your attitude is as such, and keep on rockin hon.
That being said...treadidasApril 17 2006, 07:47:29 UTC
Yes people make assumptions... For me the key has alwasy been to realise that they're there and work around it.
That being said... let me tell y'all what it's like, being male middle class and white... It's a bitch. If you don't believe, listen up to my new CD. Sham on...
