Big Damn Doctor Who Vid Recs, Week Three

Dec 14, 2009 15:26

The next 10 music videos in the countdown to the finales. Again, a lot of these are sadder but they also fill us with hope. Hope you enjoy the choices for this week. Only one more week to go after this.

Week Three - Doctor Who Music Videos

1.
Tender by iwillrememberu

Why: This is their song. Not only was it used in the Doomsday Confidential, but it just fits so freaking well. This video is about what Rose means to the Doctor and how she changed and healed him. It uses Confidential footage of Christopher, Billie and David to wonderful effect, to not only tell the Doctor and Rose's story, but also the actor's who portrayed them so beautifully on screen.

2.
The World Spins Madly On by Holly Gilmore

Why: Using footage from Billie's other work to portray Rose's life in the other universe, this video is AU but it doesn't seem so. Everything works so well together and you can totally believe that this is all one source. The song just guts to the core. I've uploaded the vid myself, since her site is no longer up.

3.
Broken by humansrsuperior

Why: There are just no words for how beautiful this vid is. Using crops and close-ups to wonderous effect, it shows the finer points of their time together and apart. The loss of Rose has left the Doctor broken inside. But because of her memory he is able to keep going, clinging to the last bits of her he has left.

4.
I Don't Have Anything by jagwriter

Why: You have no idea how many times I've watched this video, and the song after I had seen it the first time. And the audio quotes, utter perfection. From Jack's line from "Utopia" in the beginning to the oh so lovely surprise quote at the end, this video will keep you enthralled through the Doctor's journey without Rose in Series 3.

5.
Might Be Wrong by humansrsuperior

Why: The coloring, the movement, the fact that I love this video so much even though I'm a hardcore Doctor/Rose shipper. And yeah, the fact that Rose is in it even though it's the Doctor and Martha doesn't hurt. Plus Radiohead. It's not a shipper video, how can it be when the title has wrong in it, but it shows what she was up against with Rose's ghost hanging over her head.

6.
Left by humansrsuperior

Why: You might have noticed by now that I love hrs' vids. It's kind of hard not to when she makes hauntingly scary vids like this. I mean, it's Rose, it shouldn't be goosebumpy, should it? But it's Rose during "Turn Left" and that brings Bad Wolf into play. The quotes, the score, everything is just so brilliant.

7.
Every Time We Say Goodbye by Dani C.

Why: So beautiful and simplistic. No fancy, schmancy effects; just pure and good editing and lovely quotes to boot. They hit you right when they need too, and even though Rose and the Doctor have had more goodbyes since this was made, it still hurts when that final line is uttered. It also doesn't hurt that the song is sung by John Barrowman himself.

8.
End by humansrsuperior

Why: Before Journey's End, this was the video that reminded us all how awesome Rose was. And how much I was looking forward to her return. My name is Rose Tyler, and this is the story of how I died.

9.
Taking Chances (alternate download link) by fan_eunice

Why: I didn't think I liked Celine Dion anymore, but then this video came along and I fell in love with one of her songs again. It works and there's hugging and angst and sweetness. Everything I love about the Doctor and Rose, both 9 and 10.

10.
Forever and a Day by humansrsuperior

Why: I love Fisher now because of this vid. The Doctor's love for Rose is endless, and if you don't believe so, watch this vid and tell me differently. Even after everything that's happened, he'll never stop loving her and she will always be the one he wants to be with. The vid is sad but beautiful and touching. You'll die happy.
