I'm really glad you were as bothered by last week's episode re: artie's plot as I was.
I wanted to like his plot. I wanted to like it so much. I tried so hard to be sympathetic to his character, but it just... failed. Mostly because I can't stand the way he treats Tina. If he calls her 'woman' one more time, I will be seriously tempted to want to punch him in the face. I think it's supposed to come off as cutesy, but it doesn't. It comes off as demeaning, especially when he's being a sadsack. And the thing that bothers me the most is no one else seems to notice. His songs in it were good, imo, but it makes me even more angry because I wanted the plot to be good too.
Seriously, if I hear him call her that one more time I will RAGE. It just feels so not okay. However, I am really excited for gaga's glee tonight. I bought the soundtrack v.3 the other day, and I've been refraining listening to it for the very same reason. Nom nom nom. I hope you enjoy your pizza, person, and glee tonight. :3
It comes off as demeaning, especially when he's being a sadsack. THIS. like, oh man, glee writers, do you not get that if you turn artie into a bitter misogynist we will all hate him? it makes me cringe, because i love his voice so much and i think they could do really cool things with him (like hey, none of these kids is known for being an academic, but artie wears glasses and dresses like poindexter, wouldn't it be kind of cool if he had a BRAIN and we got to see him doing something about ACTUAL SCHOOL?) blar. they just consistently get so close to awesome, and then drop the ball. i mean i know it's a fledgling show and they're confirmed for 3 seasons already so hopefully things will even out, but yeah. concerned!
