I love how you hint at things, show us glimpses of what's going on in Neal's head (and glimpses of what Neal thinks might be going on) and how he and Peter play off of one another - although at this point, the stakes seem a bit too high for it to be called a game anymore.

The ending's brilliant you tease! <3

HEEE thank you so much for the lovely review! it is definitely not a game for either of them anymore, lol, and i am so looking forward to exploring where it goes from here. i won't be going through the whole "what kate did and why" on screen, but you'll definitely see the fallout from neal's discovery in the next installment. XD

Neal didn't want a cup of goddamn tea. He could recognize this plain as day-- this was good cop bad cop, this was both sides against the middle, and he didn't want to be anywhere near it.

For some reason Neal's hard-boiled voice here makes me just want to ruffle his hair. :D That is totally what his interior monologue would sound like when he was trying to be tough.

This is wonderfully full of suspense and inner conflict! I love the little bit of interaction we get between Neal and Peter at the end. And I love Neal fighting against his trust for Peter. It is absolutely that kind of dynamic that I'm in this fandom for.

Also it cracked me up that this was tagged under my name! I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often, since I'm the first in the alphabetical listing. But it's kind of ironic, since I wrote one with a similar sort of premise recently.

This is great! I love your writing. I so feel Neal's panic -- a lot like the way he was busting in on Fowler at the end of 1.07.

I've always been struck by Mozzie telling him he has no impulse control. I see Neal as really smart at figuring something out in advance, but possibly impulsive and hotheaded when in a crisis. Like how he didn't notice Kate was using Morse code because he was too emotional at the time.

Anyway, this is beautifully written and I'd so love to see more WC fic of yours.

thank you so very much for the lovely review-- i was really striving for that same level of tension and urgency, it's very nice to hear i achieved it. :3 and there will definitely be more fic from me-- i plan ten installments in this 'verse, they'll all go up here and at whitecollarfic as they get finished. thanks again for taking the time to comment! <3
