"Finally, something other then rabbit food." What, say thank you? Naw. As for 'favorite' that was too close to boggy ground at the moment.
"You might want to put the ice cream in the freezer before it melts." Which would give him a minute to wake up. "A beer to go with the pizza wouldn't hurt." Screw the doctors and their 'no alcohol' rule. With any luck she didn't know about that.

Carrying the food back out to the living room, Lisbon set a plate on his lap, giving him her best unwavering look.
"It wouldn't hurt if you weren't on pain meds. But you are. So you're not getting any. End of story. You've got ice cream waiting for you later, so suck it up."
That being said, she took a seat next to him on the sofa and grabbed her own plate, taking a bite and almost moaning at how good it tasted. She'd skipped dinner last night, and hadn't realized just how hungry she was.
"What're we watching?"

He reached for a plate, not looking at her to see if she noticed how slow he was moving, and helped himself to two slices. "Now this is real food. Not the crap Jane brought. College ball, Cal v Michigan."

She did notice, although tried not to make it obvious that she had, and attempted just to focus on the game.
"Any rugby matches on?" She loved football, too, of course, but was especially partial to rugby.
