With Mandy gone again for a long weekend in New Hampshire, Lisbon had promised to spend a substantial amount of her own time off stopping in to check on Bosco. Of course, "stopping by" meant spending most of the day there; it gave her the chance to convince herself that he really was getting better, and wasn't going to leave her any of them in the ( Read more... )

Bosco was actually half asleep when she arrived, though he'd deny it with his last breath. Damn meds they had him on made him tired. He rolled on his side, looking at the tv even though he didn't know the score, let alone what teams were playing.

"Finally, something other then rabbit food." What, say thank you? Naw. As for 'favorite' that was too close to boggy ground at the moment.

"You might want to put the ice cream in the freezer before it melts." Which would give him a minute to wake up. "A beer to go with the pizza wouldn't hurt." Screw the doctors and their 'no alcohol' rule. With any luck she didn't know about that.

She headed to the kitchen, putting the ice cream in the freezer, and grabbing plates and napkins for their pizza. He might have denied he was sleeping, but she could at least tell that he was groggy, as though he'd been startled out of a nap. But she wasn't going to mention anything. He might have wanted beer, but that, at least, he was not going to get.

Carrying the food back out to the living room, Lisbon set a plate on his lap, giving him her best unwavering look.

"It wouldn't hurt if you weren't on pain meds. But you are. So you're not getting any. End of story. You've got ice cream waiting for you later, so suck it up."

That being said, she took a seat next to him on the sofa and grabbed her own plate, taking a bite and almost moaning at how good it tasted. She'd skipped dinner last night, and hadn't realized just how hungry she was.

"What're we watching?"

"I'll trade you. You can have the meds, I'll take the beer." He wasn't about to admit, of course, that he'd never really be able to make that deal. he couldn't even sleep a full night without having to pop a pill, just so the pain didn't keep him awake.

He reached for a plate, not looking at her to see if she noticed how slow he was moving, and helped himself to two slices. "Now this is real food. Not the crap Jane brought. College ball, Cal v Michigan."

"I'd trade if I could, Sam," she started, earnestly, before continuing, "but since I can't, there's no way in hell you're getting beer on my watch. The next time I get laid up, you can deny me things I can't have all you want. Until then, you'll get pizza, you'll get ice cream, and you'll get the chance to be stuck with me all weekend. No beer."

She did notice, although tried not to make it obvious that she had, and attempted just to focus on the game.

"Any rugby matches on?" She loved football, too, of course, but was especially partial to rugby.
