Finally in Ohio

Well we're finally here, which means one level of stress is removed from my life. The apartment was amazingly clean when we left, and we have friends who are going to go over every so often to be sure that everything's kosher and to move the car in the parking lot so it doesn't look like we've abandoned it. The flight yesterday went pretty well ( Read more... )

If you make a journal, you have to log in separately. But if you make a community, you can post to it while logged in on this one - and make it private, so that all posts to it are locked (if you want), and you can also specify that other people can join the comm (to read posts) but can't add their own posts.

That's another good option. I kinda wish I'd done that myself, but I'd already created the journal as a separate journal, and wasn't able to do so.

Good to know - I'll probably go that route in the end, I think.

The only thing I'd advise about that route is this: there is a SERIOUS chance that a writer will read your review of their work. If you don't mind them being able to follow you to your personal LJ, then no worries. However, if that creeps you out or worries you, then make a separate journal. :)

Yay!!! I'm so glad you enjoyed it! I was super-hooked when I read it myself. I haven't read the second book yet, but I'm buying it from Maria at residency (which is where I bought the first one, actually).

You do have to log in and out. One thing I did for my reading journal was BAN my other user names so I wasn't able to comment to the reading journal under ANY other user name but the right one. Another trick is use a seperate browser for the other journal, that way you can stay logged in on two names in two browsers, if that makes any sense. :)

I assume she'll have copies of both books at residency? If so, I'll just plan to buy them both then, and I'll definitely make it a point to let her know I've enjoyed the one and am waiting for the other to be turned back into the library so I can read it too. With any luck, I'll be able to get it in time to read it before I have to critique her submission (which is from the third book - yay!) but we'll see.
