[WHAM]
[The front door suddenly swings open, just long enough for a young man to be flung into the Main Hall. For him though, it feels like he's falling straight down one moment and then sideways the next. Slender black hands release him, dumping him in an ungainly heap on the floor. The door doesn't slam as it shuts, but by the time Ed manages to collect himself enough to look back the way he'd come, it is closed.]
What the fu--
[Whatever rude thing Ed was about to say dies on his lips as he hears a sudden beeping sound from the pocket of his coat. Actually, amend that.]
What the fuck?
[Digging into the pocket, he finds a strange object. It fits easily into his hand, but it's like nothing he's ever seen before. And it just... keeps... beeping. Some people would simply chuck such an item away, but Ed recognises it for what it is, technology. Technology he's not seen before.]
Can't be Drachman. Aerugonian? No... Cretan?
[Either way, Ed starts to mess with the device, and after about ten minutes manages to pull up the system manager's
first post. It's not the sort of message he welcomes and after a moment he climbs to his feet to rattle the latch on the front door.]
[Of course, nothing happens.]
[A frown forming on his face, he stuffs the device back into his pocket and claps his hands together, then grabs the latch a second time.]
[Nothing.]
Damnit.
