Di/Versification [new writing filter]

Aug 09, 2006 22:55

Last week or so I downloaded and printed out the pages of some British professor's dictionary of international verse forms. It's itching me like mad to try some of them out, but I don't want to be writing at a brick wall, either ( Read more... )

If you were going to be PC you'd be calling it Burma.... :-)

I'd like to be in. I certainly want to read. If time permits & inspiration strikes I might write too. I'd feel very lucky to get to learn & be exposed to all that lush sensual stuff! esp on the international tip.

:-)

Oh, sign me up for the filter. I don't promise to actively versify -- I've got a hell of a lot of writing to do in coming months -- but I would enjoy reading.

What he said.

(And chanaleh too. I love verse forms.)

I *love* verse forms. Can't guarantee I will play along at home, though if anything could get me to, this would probably be it. Anyway, yes please.

count me in. I love untested "creative writing". That's what most of mine is.

Sure, I'll read along. We've both done the forms class at our respective graduate creative writing programs; I admire your humility and willingness to experiment by essentially repeating the class 13 years later. Sort of like Satie taking a counterpoint class at age 40. John Hollander's Rhyme's Reason: A Guide to English Verse does the same thing as Newman.

BTW, that's a flattering userpic.

Umm...I sort of preregistered you anyway. There's been no action of yet, though.

re: userpic: don't you say that I have a way of manipulating the camera to give people [read: you] an unrealistically flattering image?

Perhaps, but that's a great smile :)

anyway, you get points for including the word "humility" to describe anything about me. Although that may just be wishful thinking on your part, b/c no one has ever used that word in conjunction with me, afaik.
