So I watched yesterday's episode of Rachel Maddow and I'm beginning to think I need to stop paying attention to political news altogether just in avoidance of things that will skyrocket my blood pressure. Don't forget to mention that census records must be kept private for 72 years. So a person would have to be at least 72 years old and up to 82 depending on exactly when they were born to appear in the census. And that is assuming that the census taker was able to find anyone home who actually knew and accurately gave every name in every domicile. If a person was born on April 2, 1930, or after, the census is not yet available.

Don't we all need and want geriatric presidents?

My answer to this is twofold.

1. My irony bone is tickled at the thought of courting the tea party, the movement for less government spending and oversight, by adding more government oversight, which will result in more government spending.

2. I'm fine with not letting Arizonans run for president. My opinion is if they're dumb enough to block themselves, LET THEM.

3. The whole birther argument is a nonstarter legally as a challenge to Obama, and the people who would truly buy into it aren't going to vote for him anyway. If they're busy spinning their wheels agitating on this front, it means they aren't spending their time arguing effectively with him on other fronts. Which, given the level of knuckle-dragging imbecility the birther ranting members of the tea party seem capable of, is all to the best.
