Actor Who?

I just noticed that the new fall shows include two different US shows starring Doctor Who alumni:  Gracepoint, starring David Tennant, a repackaging of Broadchurch; and Selfie, starring Karen Gillan, a repackaging of Shaw's PygmalionI'm all in favour of US networks giving us more opportunites to see our much-loved actors, as long as they don't ( Read more... )

OMG...the casting of R&GAD is just...EPICNESS.

There was a US version of Red Dwarf?! OMFG...so glad I missed that. *Cries* I give Elementary a miss to. Just on basic principles.

BTW, JB is delish in Arrow. A bad guy of the first caliber. And Alex Kingston is in there as well!! Mmmm...Alex. Sorry, sorry.

Gonna check out Gracepoint and Selfie. Though Selfie is generally not my bag, I like the whole 'My Fair Lady' aspect of it (in a reversish way) and seeing Karen so vapid and snobbish and meh is just...

Yes, I have a weird sense of humor.

I know the actors I want, but can't settle on a production. This is terrible. *SOBS*

Heehee!

I don't know all of them, but that's a splendid cast list. Let's see. Shall we cast them in a cracky updated parody of a Shakespearean play? How about screwing around with A Midsummer Night's Dream?

Let's star by casting Alex Kingston and John Barrowman as Titania and Oberon, with Arthur Darvill as the mortal they're squabbling over -- not a little boy, obviously. That subplot can end with a threesome. I think Alex Kingston would make a fantastic Titania. John Barrowman's costume will not include a shirt.

We can have Maggie Smith, Judy Dench, Peter Capaldi and Timothy Dalton as the two sets of lovers. I think it would be more fun if they end up in f/f and m/m pairs at the end of the night, though. *g* True love and all that, right?

How do you like Matt Smith as Puck?

That leaves Nicholas Courtney, Eva Green, Chris Barrie and Raquel Cassidy as the mechanics/players -- you can choose which one will be Bottom.

I just saw the pilot of "Selfie"! And I enjoyed it! Even though they made Karen use an American accent, which took awhile to wrap my head around. (My brain kept going, "why does she sound like that?") But her American accent was good, so yay! And the script was good -- no huge laughs, but very clever and enjoyable. Not sure yet how well the idea will hold up over multiple episodes, but it's definitely on my watch list for now.
