They are graduation gowns. It's a pretty common HP costume technique (the specialty robes are really only available in kids sizes, though tons of our kids had them on). I'm wearing my masters' robes, but we also just bought a huge box of them. For staff not coming in a specific costume, we told them to wear black and we stuck a robe on them. It worked well. I also lent out my high school robe for the woman who played McGonagall as she wears green.

Thanks! Yep, my hair is very long (halfway down my back) and pretty curly. Usually I just put it up in the summer. I'm about to give it up and cut it all off to something like this, but the cut had to wait until I had pulled off the Hermione look. One mom took a picture of me with her little girls because they idolized Hermione which was fun.

I think I need a wand too! However I was teaching our Potions class and spent much of my time helping my students with their cauldrons. Our magical potions produced bouncing balls and some edible candy.
