With a little guts and lots of glitter...

I’ve been tossing around the idea of doing a picspam of John Barrowman as Albin/Zaza in La Cage Aux Folles for some time now - ever since the promotional images started surfacing on the net, in fact. His run in the show has combined my current twin fangirl obsessions perfectly, even if he doesn’t make as good an Albin as Roger Allam. He’s good, yes ( Read more... )

gqmf, shallow as hell, camerawhore, house 53 hive mind, i'm such a bloody fangirl sometimes, guess who i met this time..., somethingspam!, bluescreen of fangirl, i love my friends, geek geek geek, curse of the muppets rocks on

I concur, how could there possibly be RPS writers in the fandom? I mean, given that there does not appear to be a photograph in existance where the two of them are ooc and NOT touching in some way (usually Phil with his hand on Roger's shoulder) where would anyone get material for the idea of RPS from?

I am aghast at such a notion...

Um...

Dammit I need more people to agree that they are adorable and easily the slashiest straight boys ever to grace the the set of La Cage and probably the slashiest pair of stage actors in general... *sigh*

I may need help...

Indeed! More people need to cross to the Quallam side! Ok, so that sounds weird, but seriously, you'd have to not have *eyes* to not be able to see how utterly adorable they are together.

*sigh*

We'll have to set up a support group...

Philip's eyes are so bright, that they'll always seem to end up being red on pictures afterwards. Poor guy xD And he *never* closes his mouth when he poses for pictures.

FABULOUS PICSPAM. I love Zaza. I only know the film versions of La Cage, but I love them <3 Especially the French one.

Feeling lots of love for Roger Allam since Thick of It <3 Also, surprise!Denis Lawson <3

*grins* Bless 'im. Mine tend to do it too - I did have red-eye-corrected versions of these photos around somewhere, but they vanished a ways back. Never mind!

I'm glad you like! I should actually update this: I saw the French stage play while I was living in Paris, and now have a lot more photos from that production. And a couple from the new US show... If you get chance to see the play, take it: it's wonderful.

Roger Allam gave me birthday kisses when he found out it was two days before my 21st birthday. I may be somewhat biased as a result... <3

Yeah, mine too depending if they're green or brown the day. If they're more hazel/brown = red on pictures.

Is it still running somewhere in London? Because then I should put it on my musicals-to-see list. Ah well, all PQ's fault that I like musicals now (and he moved back to Australia for a at least a while it's stated on the allthingsquast website, meeeh *sad face*).

Awwwww how adorable of Allam <3 Makes me love him more.

great pics!

the unkown picture (the forth one) is from the movie 'il vizietto' (or 'la cage aux folles'), an italian/french production. the actor's name is Michelle Serrault.

Thanks a lot for the picspam, I'd been looking for good pictures of Graham Norton's performance for ages! I think I can't even imagine how much time it took you...

The one you call "movie!Zaza" is a picture of Michel Serrault who played Zaza in the original play and then also played Zaza when they made the first film in 1978. He was an incredibly famous and respected French actor but sadly died in 2007. Zaza was one of the roles that made his famous in the first place in France.
"La Cage aux Folles" is is a well-known story over here and so the two actors you saw on the poster in Paris are very famous as well. Everyone knows who they are and so it was kind of an event in Paris when the play opened with both of them in the lead roles (that's why you saw so many posters).
(However the one who plays Zaza is a comedy actor mostly known for sketches so it's a bit sad that they didn't take the role seriously and decided to give it to an actor who's not considered to be 'serious')

Hope it helped! Thanks again for all your hard work!

PS: forgot to say that the play in Paris was the original version written by Jean Poiret and not the musical.
