I can't remember if I ever mentioned exactly what it is that I do at work all day. Anyhow, I now work for an insurance company taking the initial claims and submitting them to the claim adjusters. Basically, I get as much information as I can from the customer then pass it on.

That's what happened to my brother, almost exactly. (there was no alcohol, though) But he was thrown. Him and a 1-month old baby. The baby survived with a fractured skull and fully recovered. Darin died instantly. They didn't say how, we didn't ask. Or care.

If you had to talk to the family, don't worry too much. Don't worry that they'll rant and cry and scream. You might get denials, or, more likely, just straight out shock. When I first found out, I was numb for weeks. It just didn't register for a long time.

That's just my own experience... but maybe it'll help prepare you, should you find yourself in that situation.
