The poet is not a "little god". No, he is not a "little god". He is not picked out by a mystical destiny in preference to those who follow other crafts and professions. I really like this. One of the reasons is that the book I'm currently reading, called All the Little Live Things, is by an author who, in my opinion, is a master at taking everyday life and transforming it into something beautiful and worthy of study. He just writes about people living their lives, dealing with loss, or being friends for fifty years, or trying to survive in the virgin West of the early 20th century, and he makes it something more.

You know what's funny? I've never even read anything by this poet before. But I really like what he's saying here.

Hey, we're doing a unit on Neruda in my english class right now...

This is very true. Poets are people, any people, every person. It's just another way to BE! I also like what he's saying about being whittled down through time.

We're reading poems from a book he published when he was 20, called “20 love poems and a song of despair.” The ones I’ve gotten to so far are beautiful, on the saddish side, and sometimes unexpected. I’ve also read some of his poems that are odes to common things … in general nature, beauty, and stuff that’s easy to identify to fits into his poetry a lot.

I want to read it - I'm putting in on hold. You make it sound great.
