[locked to Raylan Givens and Jim Kirk]

I am the fourth LaRue. The third is out of control, and I can't stop him without your help. Lance Blackthorn and Percy Weasley will vouch for me, though they will not tell you my identity.

[locked to Percy Weasley]This is Sirius, here -- I am taking over as LaRue. The current LaRue is killing criminals ( Read more... )

Does this have anything to do with the executions in Little Gotham?

Thanks for coming forward, but the name doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

It has everything to do with it.

I'm aware of that, and I hope to gain your trust by working together on this, and other things in the future. We're on the same side.

The last one was on our side. And still is, theoretically. But his actions are too extreme -- executing criminals to keep the territory safe is still committing a crime.

Still, he's convinced it's the only "incentive" we can give them to back off of this territory, since the police have their hands full.

I think we can come up with a better solution...preferably one that doesn't involve guns.

Raylan's right. [If possibly in need of blood pressure meds.] The "better solution" is to let the police handle this in accordance with the law. Pushing criminals out of Little Gotham only sends them elsewhere; and you claiming the name for your own gain doesn't give you any more authority than the previous one. In the end, you're all avowed crime lords claiming you're on our side, without showing anything for it, in the hopes we'll leave you alone.

You assume that because LaRue appears to be a crime lord, he is one.

No, we assume that because he told us so.

Oh wait, I think that qualifies as solid evidence.

Another assumption: you assume every LaRue is the same. We are not. The LaRue who is executing criminals was put in place to control crime in this territory, not encourage it.

I was this LaRue's administrative assistant -- when I learned how things were being handled, I knew they had to change. I tried to convince him, but he wouldn't listen to me. So now I'm coming to you, because this has to stop.

But you need a LaRue. He was right about one thing...your hands are full, and so are your cells. I am only assuming this title because I want to help fix the problem, not because I want the territory for myself.

Talk to the contacts I gave you, they'll confirm this.

Your decision to take the name is telling. You're telling us you're continuing his legacy. And whatever you say now? We have even less reason to trust you than we did number two, and I was against that from the start.

Spin it however you like, your actions don't match your stated intentions. You can't fight corruption with corruption, or crime with crime. If you don't see a way of legitimately fighting what's going on here, then I can't see why you think it's worth coming to us. We're either no threat or no help, aren't we?

That's the entire point. I don't want to fight crime with crime, which is exactly what LaRue is doing. I came to you for help because I thought you might find a legitimate way.

I am more than willing to assist you in stopping him, and helping you deal with the crime level here. That was what I thought I was signing up for when I agreed to help LaRue in the first place.

If what you say is true--if you were signing up to "help"--the best thing you can do now is come forward with hard evidence against this LaRue and give up the title. If you're even holding it.

No one's accused you of anything. If you come clean, we can use what you know to prosecute the guilty. And protect you.

I doubt you'll believe me, but I'm here on approval from the Magistrate herself. Why do you think I told you to talk to Weasley?

I could tell you who he is, but he'll never admit to it. But I'm also the administrative assistant, which means I've got access to his files...what sort of hard evidence do you need?

I'm not really "holding" the title so much as...assuming it to protect my identity. But I won't need protection from the police.

And this is only a suggestion, but it might be best to keep it that way. If word gets out that there is no LaRue, there will be chaos. You'll never be able to contain the situation. But I can promise full cooperation and disclosure with the police.
