Sefton huffed to himself, thoroughly disgruntled. He had been at his own house for the night, taking the time to clean it up and keep it maintained since he wasn't there all that often anymore, and ran out of soap. Fine, fair enough, he would just walk to the store and grab some more... except the streets had shifted at exactly the wrong moment and now he was turned around. "Fantastic," he grumbled. He passed by a few of the seedier locales in the city, but knew better than to slow down or pay them any mind by now. He would have continued past the nondescript bar, as well, were it not for the drunk practically launching out the door and trying to drape himself over Sefton.

With a yelp, he jumped out of the way, backing himself up against a poorly-placed trash can. The drunk stumbled, stared for a moment, then grinned at Sefton. "Heyyy kid, why don't'cha... don't'cha c'mover here and give Uncle Jerry a hug, huhhh?"

"No way," Sefton asserted. He tried to sidestep the can and the drunk, but the man simply moved to block his progress, ( ... )

"Hey!"

Michael stepped outside after he heard a kid yell. He reached out to grab the guy's shoulder and pull him back. "Back off," he said in a commanding voice.

Sefton shrunk back at the voice, gaze darting to Michael when he moved into the situation. He watched, silent, as Jerry simply started shaking his head and went to give Michael a hug instead, saying, "No, no, it's cool, man! We're cool! Man... I love you."

That was about the time Sefton made the mental note to stop wandering about at night. Not only were there criminals and prostitutes and gangs on every other corner, but there were way-too-friendly drunks and that just wasn't going to fly.

Michael's reaction to being hugged... was far from positive. He grabbed the guy's arm and tried to twist it behind his back. Michael wasn't the hugging sort of person these days.

"That's enough," he said sternly, "Leave or your wrist breaks."

The man gave a pathetic whimper of pain from being twisted around. He was a far cry from fit or powerful, after all. "G-geez, try to show a guy a li'l friendliness an'... an' lookit what happens!" he whined with a slur. "O-okay! I'll go, just... just-spread the love, man. Could'jya do that f'r me?"

Michael released him with a little shove. "Go spread it somewhere else."

His attention turned back to Sefton. "You okay?" he asked as he took a step closer. There was something... strange Michael was picking up on. Something like the feeling he got around Flemming only not a strong.

Jerry stumbled back, arms pinwheeling, then continued on his way down the street, loudly singing some very off-key song as he went. Sefton watched him up until Michael addressed him, and resisted the urge to move back again, although tensed noticeably.

"Yeah... yeah, 'm fine," he said, turning his gaze away. "Thanks."

Michael sent a glare after the man for good measure. As for the weird feeling... how do you ask someone if they're a werewolf? 'Excuse me, sir, I believe you are a werewolf?' Yeah, that wouldn't fly and the kid looked scared enough.

"You shouldn't be out around here," he offered.

That got an eye roll out of Sefton. He huffed and replied, "Got lost." He didn't need to explain what he'd been doing out and about in the first place; it wasn't any of this guy's business.

Michael chuckled at that response. "I just saved you from gratuitous drunken hugging, I think you owe me an explanation," he said in a surprisingly serious tone. He moved a little closer but didn't crowd.

"Like why I get the same feeling around you that I do with the guy who bit me."

Sefton didn't pull back, but he didn't seem entirely comfortable with the lack of space between them, either. His eyes narrowed, though he managed to keep the frown to himself.

"Guy who bit you," he repeated, and the understanding came after he had finished. Bristling just a little, he looked away, mostly to hide his confusion. Werewolves were involved, definitely, but how could he sense Sefton if they weren't in the same pack? "Why d'you think?"

Okay. Michael wasn't too put off by the attitude. It wasn't unlike what he got from new recruits.

"I have a pretty good guess," he said calmly.

That earned Michael an eyeroll, though it was tempered by a slight anxiousness. Did this guy want to warn him off his territory or something stupid like that? "Bet you do."
