Afternoon and evening of the 23rd.

Sefton had little to do. After making all of the arrangements for any of the residents who wanted to move to the Victoria before the snow had set in, making sure the doctors had gotten as much as they needed and generally finishing all the rest of his work, he... really didn't have much to do.

People weren't his forte. Sick people were definitely not his forte. Being stuck here with everyone else, nowhere to run, simply waiting for something to happen was not how he envisioned things would go when he gave the okay for the hostel to house the sick.

All he had left to do was to curl up in one of the more comfortable chairs in the parlor (closer to the corner of the room, not in the open) and read a book. The owner of the hostel had exactly two things to be thankful for amidst all this mess: that the full moon had already risen four days ago, and that his wings were once again hidden with the magic in his bracelet.

If anyone needed him for whatever reason, he wouldn't be hard to find. He made sure of that, at least.

"How come?" If he had the time to read, he should have the time to do other things.

[polarisation]

"'Cause... I've got a lotta work?" The look he gave said it should have been obvious.

[lostandfinder]

"Not all the time." It would help if Chivy understood what kinds of things working entailed.

[polarisation]

"Seems like it sometimes," said Sefton with a half-hidden sigh.

[lostandfinder]

"What all do you have to do?" Chivy had a sense that Sefton kept busy with it, but he didn't really know much beyond that.

[polarisation]

"Make sure everything else runs." It was a vague answer, but he didn't feel like explaining all the minutiae of running an entire hostel, not when it would likely spur Chivy into trying to help once he heard it.

Specifics or no specifics, the situation was about the same. "You should still take breaks and stuff. What's the point if you're always busy?"

Sefton furrowed his brows at that. "What d'you mean, s' the point?" Keeping the hostel running wasn't enough?

[lostandfinder]

"I mean there's got to be things you like doing more than working all the time." Especially the way he'd responded earlier.

[polarisation]

Sefton shrugged. It was what he needed to do. What he wanted was second to that.

No answer meant Chivy was right and Sefton had some backwards excuse for why he didn't feel like giving into reason. Which also meant there wasn't much reason to dwell on that point. "So what's your new reason I'm not allowed to help?"

[polarisation]

That earned Chivy a flat look. "You dunno what to do. S' not really the best time to think 'bout hiring, anyway."

[lostandfinder]

"Why not? You have something better to do?" Chivy was ignoring the book, it obviously wasn't as interesting as the situation at hand.

[polarisation]

"There's a lotta stuff going on right now, if you hadn't noticed," said Sefton, his tone, surprisingly, approaching mild.

Chivy nodded - kind of hard to miss. "How much of it are you dealing with?"
