The Metal Gear's roar was answered with one from higher up, one less screechy with metal and far more enraged. Aerodactyl plummeted from the sky, wings folded protectively around her rider.

At first Lance wasn't sure he should get involved, even seeing how big the thing was. Learning that Sefton was the battery put paid to that; he was moving before his logical brain could catch up to point out that he was hardly in the condition to be fighting giant robots.

It didn't matter. He was already there, suited up and harnessed in, he and his dragon aimed for the robot's head. They'd soon find out just how this thing worked.

There's a glance up at the screen and picks up Lance and his dragon. It's nothing Rush finds a threat, but more of a minor annoyance that he should take care of sooner rather than later. Opening up RAY's mouth, he turns its head at Lance and Aerodactyl as it lets off a short stream of pressurized water towards them.

"Fu--" Lance threw himself to the side, pulling taut on the harness and helping Aerodactyl roll dizzily aside as the water shot past. The spray splattered over the dragon's hide, making her snarl in fury and pain, but it didn't stop her. The dragon collided with the Metal Gear's shoulder, her body slewing around, glowing claws digging into the metal with a faint grind.

"Honoo no Kiba," Lance hissed. Fire Fang.

The dragon's fangs glowed with heat as she bit down hard on the joint with her strong jaws, shaking her head with rumbling growls to help tear at the robot's metal armour, trying to dig into the mechanics.

He could hear the battle taking place, the louder sounds of the battle piercing through the battle tank's hide and echoing in the small chamber. There wasn't much to alert him to the adversary getting in closer aside from the slight thump of it clinging onto it.

Sefton shuddered, feeling more than utterly helpless. Now that they were on land and not simply swimming, it felt like more power was being drained from him than before. He could barely move, but instinct had him trying some other form of avoidance; switching from the repelling force he usually used to the attracting one. It was nothing more than instinct, pulling everything toward himself, a subconscious act to comfort himself. He had no idea what it would actually do to RAY's systems.

At the exact moment Sefton switches from repel to attract, RAY freezes up as it shifts from one power source to another. There's some swearing from Rush before the machinery jerks back to life, but Lance and his Aerodactyl are already on and his first though is to remove them. Noticing Aerodactyl's dislike of water, Rush does the only thing he can do since they can't be shot with the water laser. RAY leaps back into the water.

"Shit!" Lance hauled back on the harness and Aerodactyl released the robot to beat her wings, letting RAY fall out from under them as it dove. The dragon skimmed over the water, then circled up higher, but not before Lance called Dragonair out in a flash of light.

"Tatsumaki," Lance ordered. Twister.

"Mmmr!" The dragon coiled sharply, scales glowing faintly as he gathered up the air and then unleashed himself in a continuous spin like a tightly-wound spring. The wind picked up, a small but growing water-spout forming over the area where Rush had vanished, water and rubble getting caught in the air. With luck it would slow the robot down, uncover his hiding place--or at least give it a beating courtesy of debris.

The energy flow shifted; instead of pulling the energy right off of himself, it dripped in from some other source, slid through him, and back up into the power drain Rush had set up. Sefton held on as best he could while they moved once again and-were submerged, he heard the splash, practically felt that one.

Trying his best to ignore the fact that they were stuck underwater now, Sefton tried flipping the switch back to repel. That lurch earlier couldn't have been coincidence in timing, could it? If this worked, maybe he could keep flipping the switch and incapacitate the Metal Gear...

Once again, RAY stops in its tracks as it switches over again, making Rush swear angrily and press a button to zap Sefton. With the twister hitting the robot, Rush was having difficulties at least until RAY started functioning again and swam further out away from the shoreline, deep enough where Lance couldn't spot him from the air.

"Let the Twister go, Hakuryu, and track it," Lance ordered. The dragon trilled, letting the wind fade, the debris and water dropping downward.

He plunged into the sea, swimming just beneath surface so he could jump sporadically above the water so Lance could see him. Aerodactyl wheeled around, pumping her wings to follow.

Sefton screamed. The electricity hurt, more than he felt was fair, but even through the pain he realized: the stuttering in the systems was him. Whatever the issue was, he could cause some sort of glitch and keep the machine from moving, if only for a moment. The pounding on the hull told him that something was happening, and no matter how much it hurt, he needed to do... something. Get Rush to stop. Though Sefton knew he wouldn't last long like this, he still had to give it a shot.

Waiting only a moment to attempt to let his muscles relax, he flipped the mental switch once again.

A giant, roaring robot.

All right - Tim was fairly certain he'd seen worse. The problem was how to deal with it. High ground was the first step - he made his way to a tall building, with a view of the robot - far enough that he was out of the way, at least for the moment. He didn't plan to stay out of the way.

Just enough to watch the dragon attack. That would be telling enough - he needed to know how fast it was before he jumped in and started searching for weak spots.

Tony had been so focused on his work the past few days (building the extraction device for Ada and working with the RT to design a new version of the armor) that he missed any network posts--until the ground shook underneath him and something exploded outside. That tipped him off.

Once ordered to Jarvis ran through the recent network posts for anything of revelance and then summarized it: giant rampaging robot, kid inside, attack the legs and tail. While Jarvis droned on about rushing into danger with little information, Tony suited up into the Mark IV armor.

Giant rampaging robot, huh? Sounds like just my thing.Iron Man appeared on the scene, Blackthorn and his dragons already on the case. The robot, called Metal Gear, measured twenty meters tall, hunched and crouched and battle-ready. The buildings around it had been crushed or destroyed, smoke and dust rising with debris piled and scattered on the ground. The area appeared evacuated save for the fighters. Just some stragglers left running away ( ... )

Well, isn't that a familiar scene, Tony coming in to fight the bad guy? Rush didn't particularly see himself as the bad guy, possibly a misguided scientist, but nowhere near evil, even though he has Sefton locked away into RAY and being the battery for it. The fact that Tony's there makes Rush grin and finally activates the speakers on RAY so he can speak to him.

"How nice of you to finally join us, Tony. It's a shame you won't be here long."

As he's speaking, RAY's head moves down to aim at Tony, beak opening as it fires the water laser at him, trying to get him from grabbing all sorts of nice things Rush needs to keep RAY mobile.

The HUD blinked red as the mouth opened and energy built. Iron Man, his arm partway inside RAY's thigh already, snapped his head up. Was that--no. Rush. Rush was the pilot.

"Execute evasive maneuvers," Jarvis suggested.

Tony grabbed the first thing he found inside the thigh and yanked his arm out--whatever came with came with--and then hit the thrusters to fly away from the blast.

Rush ignored the red and warnings from his readouts to have RAY's water laser try to follow Tony's path in an attempt to hit him, but it comes up short and cuts off. There's a soft curse from him when he realizes the water tank's empty from his use of the laser and deciding to ignore Tony for a minute, RAY backflips into the water, disappearing under the surface for a few moments as the tank filled and Rush hurriedly tried to bypass the part Tony had ripped out.

Then RAY resurfaced a bit, only its back showing up above water for some reason. It's made clear almost immediately though, portions of its back open up and six missiles fly up into the sky. Then they open up and many smaller missiles come raining down from them, much to Rush's delight.

Lance snarled wordlessly at Tony's quip as the man shot past. Fuck you, Stark. He and Aerodactyl arrowed up, circling around to centre themselves, and the dragon's Flamethrower blasted overhead as Rush dove underwater.

The redhead was already calling for Dragonair to attack when Rush launched the missiles, and the tamer cut off his first order in favour of Thunder Wave. With a hum and a coiling, lashing motion the serpentine dragon sparked and threw out a net of electricity to catch the raining missiles, enough to make them explode as they hit it, before they struck anything or anyone else.
