Y'know, something's been bugging me. When I got here a while ago, I was... older. Taller 'n all that, definitely more 'n I should've been. Then 'bout a year ago [ to the day, as a matter of fact ] I turned back to normal. Dunno why.

That ever happen to anybody else here? Or-'ve you ever heard 'bout it?

No. I can't say I'm aware of the phenomenon. Which may mean it is unique to you.

If performed correctly, it ought to render your power obsolete and redundant.

It being a charm, it may wear off after long periods of time, but I've yet to even test it.

S' better than nothing, though. Can you... use it yet? [ He doesn't know how this spell-making thing works, give him a break. ]

I have not been given ample time to test it. I may try it, but it has a very strict and limited usefulness for obvious reasons. Only you will be able to tell me when it is working.

It is.

Your friend Mr. Blackthorn is making the progress difficult. He insists for a dragon to be watching, and I am not keen on the idea of having a man-eating creature about when his wards make it impossible for me to defend myself.

... oh. They don't eat people. And-I know s' not your point. But... [ Beat. ] They wouldn't do anything.

I do not trust them. And I do not trust Blackthorn. I have enemies in this city whom I suspect he is quite familiar with. It would be a simple matter for him to 'rally the mob' and perform retribution should the spell not go accordingly.

[ Wow, even Sefton isn't this paranoid about things... most of the time.

When he speaks, he just sounds bemused. ] He wouldn't do that.

Either convince your friend not to disturb us with either himself or his pets for a few hours, or endeavor to return to the outside world so that we may continue our work uninterrupted.

All right.
