[locked FROM Osiris/Sarah and Ba'al. OPEN for everyone else]Hey. This is Daniel Jackson. I need help. Well, a friend of mine needs it. She's currently host to a parasitic alien called a Goa'uld. It's being suppressed right now but it usually takes complete control over the host's body. She isn't a willing host. There is a way to safely extract them ( Read more... )

First off, I'm sorry to hear about your friend's situation. Now, I'm a nurse, so I'll tell you what I would do. Others might offer advice beyond my medical knowledge though.

She would need to be scanned to find the location of the parasite. Then once that was determined, it would probably be known if surgery is a viable option. If the parasite has spread itself too far, then alternative solutions would have to be thought up. But if even a tissue sample of the parasite could be taken and studied, a weakness might be found.

It's... wrapped around her spinal column, it extends up into her brain by thin filaments. It looks sort of like a snake.

Um. I'm not sure I can get a tissue sample without it noticing. Goa'uld can release a poison to kill their hosts, it's also released when they die. He--rather, it doesn't want to be removed.

I really wish I had more.

Well that complicates things. Hmm, how aware is this Goa'uld? If your friend was to be scanned, would it notice that, you think?

He sees everything she can see.

Then it's impossible to involve her in the plan without him knowing. [She sighs.] The only thing I could suggest is if she happens to hurt herself, then you can get her scanned under the pretense of giving her medical attention.

Yeah. I.. Thank you. I know you're trying to help.

If I manage to find more information on it, would you be willing to look it over?

I only wish I could do more.

Yeah, of course. I'd be happy to. The name's Christine Chapel, if you need to contact me.

Thank you. Um, I already introduced myself but I'm Daniel Jackson. I run the library here.

Oh! Would you happen to have any books about 21st century medicine?

Yes. Actually. Quite a few. They're... sort of mixed into together with medical texts from the Renaissance on but they're there.

Great, they're just what I need. Where's this library of yours located?

... Is it effected by whatever you do to the host? For example, if we sedated your friend, would it sedate the parasite?

No. Um, they would have to be sedated separately with high doses. Goa'uld have regenerate powers they extend to their hosts, at the price of their freewill. Most sedatives won't work on either of them. The Goa'uld can counter act them too fast.

So anything that's done would have to be done directly to the parasite first.

[tap, tap, tap -- she's thinking]

The kill switch we can get around, in theory. We would have to remove the parasite before destroying it, and make sure it isn't aware of what we're doing. It's the location that's ... problematic. We don't want to damage her brain or spine.
