Some had visited on and off, keeping his visits short. He'd been allowed to come back to work, but he was supposed to work escorted now, so someone human would always be there. Not to chaperone him, he was assured, but to keep him from scaring people quite so badly.

He thought it might be a good idea off-duty, too. And who could be more disarming than Rapunzel? So he brought her with him, early Wednesday morning when he and Lance would ordinarily have been having their lesson.

Rapunzel followed after her friend, looking around the hospital wide eyed.

People came here to heal. But...it was not warm, or nice to be in. But she knew Some was worried about his friend, and needed someone to be with him. In more ways then one.

And she wanted to meet more people who called Some friend.

Lance wasn't in the room at the moment. Lance was currently standing in front of one of the food and drink machines down the hall, half leaning on it, staring blankly into the glass with his purchase in hand. The occasional person moved past him down the corridor, but the look on his face made it clear his mind was entirely somewhere else.

Also judging by the look on his face, having someone to tear him out of the place his mind was in would be entirely welcome.

Some had expected Lance to be in Sefton's room, so he paused when he saw him, touching Rapunzel's shoulder to stop her.

"Lance?" he called, just a few paces away.

She stopped next to Some, reaching to grip him tighter. His form barely gave her pause now, she was so use to it.

Looking at the other man, she could see how stressed he was. She chewed her lip, feeling that pressure, the pressure of this whole place.

Lance didn't respond at first, but then he stirred and turned with a slow, mildly dazed blink. Some's giant shape filtered in just as slowly, and the bright blonde hair of the girl beside him even later. Lance barely glanced at her.

"Some?" he asked, a little hoarse, a little confused, a little distant. He still wasn't quite where he should be.

He patted her hand absently, taking a few steps forward. The distance in Lance's air was alarming. Too much like grief.

"Lance, we came to check on you. Is- is Sefton doing okay?" He had to force the question out, not sure he wanted to hear the answer.

She hung back, not sure where she hung in this situation. She didn't want to say the wrong things, and she'd...she hadn't seen someone who looked so...so in pain.

Another blink, before Lance managed to answer dully. "Still the same. Still ... always the same."

It was the unchangingness that was wearing on him more than anything else. It hadn't even been that long, but the fact the doctors weren't even sure what was wrong just made it worse. He just wanted Sefton to wake up.

His eyes fell on Rapunzel again. "Who's this?" Standard question; one got the feeling he couldn't quite muster the care he felt he should.

Some stifled a small noise of relief. Oh Lance, you had him thinking the worst.

He turned, touching Rapunzel's shoulder again. "My friend, Rapunzel. She lives in the Hostel, and she did not mind coming with me today."

She extended her small hand, giving him a dazzling grin. She wasn't sure what she could do to help him, if anything. But if there was anything, she was ready to do it.

"Hello! It's nice to meet you."

"Hello," Lance answered automatically, taking Rapunzel's hand and bending to put a kiss on the back. "You came to see Sefton?"

Quiet, with a flicker of what would have been gratitude for a stranger, if it only wasn't smothered by the depression and fear. "Thank you."

"If he's awake. If not, we came for you. Is there anything you need?"

Rapunzel stepped back into place next to Some, watching Lance. She wasn't sure everything that was going on, but...this was a place for sick people.

And someone, clearly, was very sick.

She watched the two talk, gathering up her courage.

"I don't know," was Lance's automatic answer. Sefton awake. Sefton not in hospital. Nothing Some or Rapunzel could give, and the answers were easy to read on the redhead's face, easy in the way his eyes flickered toward the door to Sefton's too. "He's ... not awake."

Some stepped forward, reaching out to touch Lance's shoulder and, if the touch wasn't rejected, to pull him into a hug.
