Hello! In the feedback post, several people expressed that having so many icons nominated per maker made voting difficult and frustrating. Two ideas to combat this were brought up. The first idea is to lower the number of icons each person can nominate from 5. The second is to screen nominations so people can't see what icons have already been

I had a thought about screening noms: What if people get very few nominated icons? Wouldn't it be in the makers' best interest to make sure there is a nice cross-section of their work to choose from? That is one of the things about seeing what other people have picked and then picking other icons -- which is what I tried to do -- so that there is a good representation of the everyone's work.

I'm not entirely sure if I'm reading you correctly (very tired) but I think what you are describing would be the point of changing the format to screened noms, which is to cut down on the number of icons nominated so that truly the best of the best are brought in. Right now, most makers have tons of icons that are nominated that don't even get a single vote, even from the person who nominated them, and the large polls can be alienating to voters because some makers end up with like 80+ icons to scroll through, but only 20 of those icons actually have a chance in hell of winning.

I can see how that might not be comfortable for people, because you might worry that there is a sixth icon that is really great that just gets passed over and you wouldn't know, so in that case I'd advise you to vote for the lowered number of noms or to leave it as is? But your problem with screening is basically both the pro and the con of that idea, so that's why it is up to vote!

Additionally, though, it strikes me that after a few days of nominating, the other mods and I could try to pull together a list of the top 5 nominated icons for each maker, so you'd at least know those were nominated a lot and don't need to be renommed?
