No, that's a Jonathan! {-:

JK - it's a marmot! Pika's are *incredibly* smaller in size, but oh so cute! These things are beastly!

Those are all amazing -- I think I love the starfish the best. What camera do you use?? I need to get into photography, stat.

Thanks, Juils! The pictures above are taken with both a Canon G10 (the ones using flash @ night, the green photo, the sunset, and the poster) and a Canon 10D (the rest, obviously!). G10 is a point & shoot, so easier to lug around. The 10D has a larger body, is heavier, but is a DSLR so looks better. Photography is fun but EXPENSIVE! (Ask Jonathan, he's gotten into more recently and is spending the big bucks on equipment! thank goodness we're getting married -- what's mine is his and his is mine {-;)

I want to see CR pics!!!

I thought you had (based on your post)!! We saw several, and they were all making that CRAZY call - have you heard it??

Also: I'm sure you didn't go on the same INSANE trail that we did (that my ankle is *still* suffering from -- seriously, over a month later and STILL swollen!)

ohhhhh my gosh. I cannot wait to move west! Once we're in Portland I'll be like.... 4 hours away or so from Mount Rainier? I think? It looks amazing.

It is a completely different world out there. You're from the midwest, right? We grew up in the SE (Florida primarily), so Pacific NW was an amazing experience. I wasn't too crazy about Portland, though. Way too many 20-something homeless people for my taste (and homeless people don't really bother me).

yeah, I live in Minnesota. The flat part.

Real homeless people? Or like, "My mom told me to get a job so I am going to become purposely homeless and find myself" homeless? Because being the oasis for hippie vegan liberal people that Portland is (or at least, that is how I understand it), I wouldn't be terribly surprised to find a bunch of dumpster-diving freegans. And I am vegan so I say that as lovingly as possible, but I DO know those few people, who become squatters/hitchhikers by choice, despite the fact that they have bachelor's degrees and rich parents.

/end rant :P

But yeah. the Pacific Northwest is definitely, no doubt, where I am destined to live. Maybe Oregon or maybe Washington, but definitely that area.

I don't *think* they are real homeless people, but I have NO CLUE. Either way, they ask me for money and when I say I don't have cash on me, they tell me to eff myself. ?!! I am TOTALLY cool with people doing whatever they want with their life, but don't be RUDE. We walked maybe 50' and were accosted >6 times, all well-dressed young men, one with a GUITAR and a CASE on his back with POMADE in his hair. I'm like, buddy, if you have time in the morning to style your hair into a faux hawk, then I do not have $5 to give you for lunch!
