Wing!fic for Secretly Bronte

Apr 11, 2008 21:22

Tomorrow is the birthday of the very delicious, smart and sweet secretlybronte and because I will be rushing around like an idiot all day, I thought I'd post her little birthday fic tonight.

So, Happy Birthday, SB! May your year be happy, healthy and above all, slashy ( Read more... )

Oh, this is so beautifully written and so very painfully sad, the loneliness of Ray and his secret, learned and forgotten a hundred times, maybe. And poor, poor Fraser, who could be so much more to him if he'd only allow it.

::wibbles::

Lovely work. Happy birthday again, SB!

A lot of people can try to work with unusual styles and genres, and they don't do a very good job. This is not the case. Impressive-wingfic that was entrancing instead of laughable, 2nd person POV that felt natural (and, as keerawa said, effective for the distance of memory). Excellent!

*squirms delightedly* Well, thank you, what a fabulous feedback. I feel quite sorry for poor SB having to have experimental birthday presents. But I'm glad it worked for you and thank you for leaving such a kind comment.

Wow, this is so beautiful, Berty! You've adopted such a poetic and crystalline prose style for this piece, and the second-person POV worked out so well! I really loved the way Fraser's dream-vision of Ray creates this portrait that is both absolutely true to the character, and a sort of spiritual extension of Ray's beauty and what Fraser interprets to be his otherworldliness. It's such a compelling portrait of these two guys, and I'm sure SB appreciated her gift. I certainly enjoyed reading it.

Hey Nos! Thank you so much, Honey. It's a bit 'out there', isn't it? I'm glad you thought it worked okay - I was seriously wibbly by the time it came to post it.

Well, I would have read this, but I NEVER read 2nd person. It's inferior, you know.

Wow, I almost kept a straight face.

See, this is why I never say never! Now someone has written WINGFIC that I buy!

*sigh* It's so nice being me.

Oh, yes! Lovely, lovely words; lovely, etherial feeling which second person gives - unreliable narrator! \o/ Hi! I am happily incoherent, here. &hearts

Oh my! Look at your ICON!!!!!! *sigh* Perfect. Did you ever see Pepe's Callum with wings manip? Which I can't find right now because she keeps bloody moving it? (Prod me if you haven't seen it and I'll get it - it's well worth the effort.)

I quite enjoyed the 2nd person - I can get away with my over-detailing a bit more.*is guilty* Thanks for reading and letting me know it worked for you.

I have this one, but I'm not sure if I've seen the one you mention. I also have Fraser, RayV and Hugh Dillon with wings. I may have something of a thing. *g*

Also, I keep a Master List of Wingfic here, to which I've added this, if that's okay with you?
