The 2004 survey

Dec 08, 2004 23:00

I'll probably post an actual entry about 2004 on New Year's Eve, and do this survey now- sort of like what I did last year, actually. So...

001. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before? graduated high school, lived away from home, played in an orchestra, worked in a microbiology lab, "camped out for Clay," visited Arizona, kissed someone I wasn't dating, attended college, voted, gushed about X-Files with Kimberley Locke, climbed a giant hill in the Welsh countryside, participated in a prank war (no, those are not in complete chronological order)

002. Did you keep your New Years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year? As documented in my LJ, my resolutions were to not eat as much junk food (kept that the past few months), to clean my room (didn't do that, however, I DO keep a clean room at college), to stop my procrastination habit (um, nope) and to be nicer (I think so)... I will make more, but I always make them on either New Year's Eve or New Year's Day, so stay tuned.

003. Did anyone close to you give birth? sexystace!! Yay for Stacey and her beautiful daughter, Madison! <3

004. Did anyone close to you die? No, thank goodness. Let's hope it stays that way.

005. What countries did you visit? England, and Wales

006. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004? Someone to love (I know I have a lot of people to love now, but I'm talking in "that way"), um..a chance to meet Clay (still holding out hope, haha), and um...whiter teeth.

007. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory?
June 15- graduation
September 2- moved into college
September 19- Clay at the Big E, second row center after about 24 hours of waiting
December 31- because I always remember New Year's Eve

008. What was your biggest achievement of the year? probably getting into college.

009. What was your biggest failure? the way I ate over the summer

010. Did you suffer illness or injury? I had a cold in February... I think that's pretty much it. *knocks on wood*

011. What was the best thing you bought? Half of this computer, and my ticket to the Big E to see Clay

012. Whose behaviour merited celebration? All of my friends, of course. :) Just to mention a couple... Meredith and Jessica for letting me stay in their room for a few hours when I locked myself out of my room on my first night at school. Not only was it really nice of them, but it led me to an absolutely awesome group of friends here. Stef for making the Clay adventure with me! And Trevor, not for anything to do with me (although he was an awesome friend as always), but he was just really courageous this year. And of course my HC. :)

013. Whose behaviour made you appalled and depressed? George W. Bush. And the Michael Phelps incident apalled and disappointed me too (although his behavior at the Olympics fits the "merited celebration" category). And a couple people in real life, but we won't go there for various reasons.

014. Where did most of your money go? textbooks and just random living essentials, and gas until the end of the summer

015. What did you get really, really, really excited about? England! And Clay at the Big E! And college!

016. What song/album will always remind you of 2004? Alanis Morissette's "So Called Chaos" album, and as for songs... She Will Be Loved (Maroon 5), any of the songs that Kevin and I listened to in the car, and all of the pieces that we've done in orchestra so far

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? I think a bit happier, but pretty much the same
ii. thinner or fatter? the same, I think... I gained some weight over the summer, but I'm pretty sure I've lost most of it
iii. richer or poorer? poorer, dude! I'm a college student now!

018. What do you wish you'd done more of? exercise, practiced my flute

019. What do you wish you'd done less of? eating gross junk food, procrastinating

020. How will you be spending Christmas? At home with my family and cat :) Then a second Christmas sometime in early 2005 with all the relatives.

022. Did you fall in love in 2004? sort of. It was complicated.

023. How many one night stands in this last year? none

024. What was your favourite TV programme? The X-Files, as always. That will always be #1. But ER was my favorite for active shows, and I've gotten into Alias these past couple months, but haven't watched it in its actual time slot yet. So, ER it is.

025. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year? I don't hate people. But I am VERY close to hating someone who I used to just kind of dislike.

026. What was the best book you read? The Secret Life of Bees.

027. What was your greatest musical discovery? probably Reel Big Fish (yes, I know they've been around forever, but I just started listening to them this year)

028. What did you want and get? the chance to attend Smith, a seat in the orchestra, more X-Files seasons, good seats for Clay, a great group of friends at college, and the assurance that my friendships at home are strong enough to withstand the college transition

029. What did you want and not get? um...see question 6, I guess

030. What was your favourite film of this year? Garden State maybe

031. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you? I just kind of had a normal day of classes, and then at night went to my very first "college house party." Was not very impressed. I turned 18.

032. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying? If Kerry had won the election

033. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004? casual

034. What kept you sane? my friends, music, and my obsessions

035. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most? Clay Aiken, of course. And in August/September I was really into Michael Phelps. And for the past couple months I've joined my Smithie girls in drooling over Michael Vartan. (He is SO INDESCRIBABLY HOT)

036. What political issue stirred you the most? I think just the election in general

037. Who did you miss? everyone at home

038. Who was the best new person you met? All of my wonderful new Smithie friends!! (And Kimberley Locke was cool too, hehe)

039. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004. To have faith that the people who matter to you will always stay close, no matter what.

040. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year?
"I'll spread my wings
And I'll learn how to fly
Though it's not easy to tell you goodbye
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway
Out of the darkness and into the sun
But I won't forget the place I come from
I gotta take a risk
Take a chance
Make a change
And breakaway" (Kelly Clarkson)
Because of obvious college change-ness

and also

"It's time now to sing out, though the story never ends
Let's celebrate, remember a year in the life of friends!"
Because of Dover friends, Smith friends, LJ friends...all of you guys. :)

And now the sappiness is over. :P
