Skinny on my skincare #3: the daily routine

Aug 05, 2013 13:00

I posted on Twitter (@berrymix over there) that my usual facialist (the one who gives me facial at Dermastrasse) told me that my skin looks really good compared to the last time I visited. I think it's a really good compliment as she knows all about my skin issues. Haha! I almost didn't want to make this post because I didn't want to jinx my skin condition right now. I still have my usual problems (oily t-zone, blackheads) but I haven't had a breakout in a while. Even when it's that time of the month, I don't get the usual hormonal pimples. So I think my skincare routine is really working for me. My friend pink_chocolatte asked me to post my skincare routine so here it goes.

Neutrogena Deep Clean Blackhead Eliminating Daily Scrub | Muji Mild Cleansing Oil

These are my two cleansers. I do double cleansing every night but for the day I only do a single cleanse. In the morning I use the Neutrogena Daily scrub. I can tell if it's eliminating any blackheads as I still got a bunch of those on my nose or maybe there would be more if I didn't use this? Either way, I like this because it has beads that don't feel too harsh when I use it. It leaves my skin feeling super clean and I detect a hint of citrus scent when I use it. I've been using this for a couple of years already.

The Muji Cleansing Oil is the first cleanser I use at night. I use this to remove my makeup and let me tell you, it removes even the most stubborn waterproof mascara. What I like about this is that it comes with a pump and one pump is enough to remove all the gunk I have on my face. I apply one pump, rub it in my eyes then I apply a little bit of water and then it turns milky white and then I lather some more. When I'm sure all the makeup is gone, I wash it off with water and then do a double cleanse with the Neutrogena daily scrub.

After cleansing, I apply the Etude Wonder Pore toner. It's supposed to do seven things including control oil and minimize pores. I only have enlarged pores around my nose but I don't know if they're any smaller. I do know that my t-zone isn't as oily as it used to be. I commute to the office every morning and by the time I get to my desk, I could bottle the oil my face has produced. Now, it's not as bad. I do still blot when I get in the office but sometimes I can even wait until lunch before I retouch. Now, my somehow controlled oil maybe because of this but I suspect it's a combination of this and the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo which is a treatment and a moisturiser in one. I suspect this does most of the work to give me give skin. I apply this after the toner and I feel it working right away (chos). My skin feels a bit tight after applying it but it goes away after a while. I'll post a review soon because I feel it deserves it's own post. after the Effaclar lovin, I apply the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunblock. But I haven't been using since I started using the Too Cool for School BB cream which has SPF37. I use this as a primer before my foundation.

I also make it a point to get a facial at least once a month. This is another post in the making but my favorite place is Dermastrasse which is just literally beside my office.

So that's my pretty simple routine. I only use five products.. so far. I plan to add an eye cream and maybe a spot corrector because I have some acne scars that are red and I hope it'll still lighten. I've also been planning how to incorporate a Sunday pamper routine that includes a mask, an exfoliant and maybe a night cream/serum. But I'm still researching and looking for products to try. What is your skincare routine like? Do you use a lot of products? Please share!
