Lipstick Month Post #12: MAC Lipsticks in Amplified Finish: Craving and Chatterbox

Jul 17, 2013 14:30

Amplified finish packs a lot of color while giving a little sheen to the lips. I really like this finish because it's still a bit borderline matte but with a small amount of sheen to make it less drying. If you like pigmented lipsticks but don't want to go all the way matte, I suggest you give this finish a try. Just as I was typing this, I realised the Maybelline Bold Matte lipsticks are more similar in finish with the MAC Amplified lipsticks. So if you've tried the Maybelline ones, the consistency is pretty much the same.

The two colors that I have are Craving and Chatterbox. Craving is the second MAC lipstick that I bought after Pink Nouveau. I distinctly remember buying it after I had a medical checkup and I dropped by Rustan's to cheer myself up. I was actually looking for Please Me but they don't have it in the store. The SA recommended this color because he said it suits me (or maybe he just wanted to have a sale). Craving is probably the only plum lipstick that I have. It's plum but still has enough pink in it which probably explains why decided to get this color. You know me and pinks.

And the other color that I have is Chatterbox which is as pink and as it can get. It's bright without being too bright, if you know what I mean. It leans a bit cool but not as cool as PN but it's also not as warm as Please Me. So I guess this sits in the middle of those two pink colors.

I find Amplified finish to be as long wearing as my matte lipsticks. Of course, the sheen goes away after a while but the color stays. It doesn't really stain but the color somehow clings to the lips.
