The next MAC Lipstick finish I'm going to feature today is the matte finish. Matte finish means it gives no shimmer or sheen but provides full opaque coverage. I like matte finishes even if this is probably the reason why my lips are super dry. I like it because the colors are really pigmented and you don't have to reapply as often as other finishes.
I only have two MAC lipsticks in matte finish and they are Please Me and Russian Red. They're part of the permanent line so there wouldn't be any problem repurchasing them.
Please Me is the color that I wanted Pink Nouveau to have. It's a warm, wearable pink color that can be used for everyday. And from the photo, you can see that is my most loved lipstick from MAC. I use this almost everyday. I've recently learned that the best way to use this is to do a lot of prep time before applying it. Scrub + balm + Please Me is what I usually do so it doesn't look super dry on my lips. I know it defeats the purpose of having a matte lipstick, but I also sometimes pair this with my Dior Addict gloss in Papillon.
I picked up Russian Red because every girl needs a red lipstick and I heard a lot of good things about this color. It's an intense bluish-red color that I find easier to pull off. However, I don't do a heavy swipe with this lipstick. I dab a little bit on my lips and spread it with my finger to give a pretty red stain.
I pair Please Me with my usual neutral eyemakeup and I find that it works well with brown eyeshadows. The color is also super versatile that it doesn't clash with most of my blushers. I'm happy with these two matte lipsticks from MAC. Russian Red is a different story. I find that it works well when I don't want to bother putting on a lot of products. I pair this with lots of mascara and I'm good to go.
I'm not eyeing anything else from the matte finish line but if you can recommend a good color, please let me know! :)
