Remember when brown lipsticks were all the rage? I wasn't allowed to wear lipsticks yet when it became popular but I remember my mama sporting this lip color everytime we had a family gathering. It was her go-to lipstick in the 90s and early 2000.
I only have two brown lip colors as it's not a color I usually wear. Maybe I still associate with age, like it's a color that old ladies wear. But that's definitely not case when I revisited thes lipsticks. Or maybe I really am getting old. Haha! Anyway, the two lipsticks I have are both from the Maybelline Color Sensational Line. One is called Blushing Brunette and the other Is Warm Me Up.
Packaging of the Maybelline Color Sensational lipsticks are pretty much the same. It comes in a dark reddish brown cap and a silver tube that holds the product.
Blushing Brunette is a brown color that has a reddish undertone. I like to wear this when I want a more toned down look. In short, when I want to look more mature. I pair this with a bright blusher though to give the look a little bit of freshness.
Warm Me Up, on the other hand, is a brown color that looks a bit mauve-y. I got this as a gift and at first, I didn't use it that much but I learned that layered with a pink lipgloss, the color comes out much nicer.
On the tube, they look pretty similar but they transform when you apply the actual product. Here are the swatches side by side:
Between the two, I like Blushing Brunette better because Warm Me Up kind of blends too well with my natural lip color and makes me look dead. And that's not really the look I usually go for. Haha! These are also not the most hydrating lip products so I make sure to use a balm underneath.
