Lipstick Month Post #1: The Lip Scrub by Sarah Happ in Blood Orange

Jul 01, 2013 18:11

Lipstick/gloss/stain/pencil month is here! A while back, I declared July as the month dedicated for all my lip products. And I have a lot to write about. Lip products are very easy to wear, I think. It also doesn't take any special skill to apply (unlike contouring which I still haven't learned to do). You can try a lot of colors and variety. You can go for a lipstick but it can be matte or glossy. You can go for a stain, a lipgloss, a lip pencil, a balm and the list goes on and on. If you are new at wearing makeup, I suggest you invest in a good lip product and it will instantly change how you look.

I thought I'd start this month with a product that I recently got but it absolutely changed my lips dramatically! You probably saw it in one of my weekend haul posts. But I have to tell you the story behind how I got it first. So I was looking for lip scrubs for my ultra dry lips and I've researched and read a lot of reviews. I was originally going to get Mint Julips from Lush but when I went to the branch in MOA, they ran out of stock. So I went to the Beauty Bar which is near Lush and I found the Sarah Happ testers sitting on the counter. I also read a lot of reviews about her lip scrubs and all of them were positive. So I tested all of the scrubs there and I finally settled on getting Brown Sugar but the sales assistant told me that they don't have stocks there. Arggg! I just asked the SA how much they were and she told me it's around Php 600. It's expensive but since I really needed a lip scrub, I thought that was fine.

The following day, I visited the Beauty Bar branch in Shangri-La Plaza Mall and was super delighted that they have the Sarah Happ lip scrubs. And they even have the special edition in Blood Orange. I had to get that of course because the other ones are part of the permanent range. I was on my way to the counter to pay for them when I noticed the price. OMG, it wasn't Php 600! It was Php 1,450! It was too late for me to put the product back as the SA was already walking me to the cashier and she looked happy that she made a sale. Napasubo na ako. Hahaha! So I just closed my eyes and paid for it.

But I have to say, that I'm really, really happy with it. It comes in a really cute box and bow. Also perfect if you want to give it as a gift.

The product itself is compact because of the oil that binds it together. The sugar doesn't fall apart when get the product. That makes it easier to apply on the lips. Nothing spills! It comes in a clear plastic bottle with a sticker label around it. I have to say that the Mint Julips packaging is better than this one. But it does its job well. The cap isn't loose and screws tightly. But the sticker is already starting to peel after a month of using it.

The ingredients list and instructions on how to use it. This bottle contains 30grams of yumminess.
As you probably know, I love it. I use it almost every day. And it completely removed all of the dry skin on my lips. I still have lines mind you, but it's easier to wear glossy and matte lip products now. It doesn't look gross with my dead skin hanging on my lips. I also used to pull those skin off which usually is more disastrous as it leaves lacerations on my lips. Not a good look. But every since I've used this, my lips aren't as dry anymore. I can't compare it with other lip scrubs as I haven't used anything else (aside from a local brand which was super oily I had to throw it away). But aside from the fact that it does what it's supposed to do, what I like about this one is the flavor. It tastes soooo good, mostly I just lick it off my lips despite the instruction that I should wipe it with a tissue. Despite the scrubbing action, it also still leaves my lips hydrated enough that I don't need to apply a lip balm after I use it. I just pat it with a tissue when I'm ready to put on my lipstick. A little also goes a long way. I just get a tiny pinch of product and it's enough for my whole lips. This tub will probably last me months and months.

Have you tried making your own lip scrub? I want to try it someday but for now, I'm happy with my The Lip Scrub by Sarah Happ in Blood Orange.
