Revlon Just Bitten Balm Stain in Sweetheart - swatches and review

Aug 12, 2012 18:37

I've been raving about the Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains for the past few days so last Saturday I finally went to Watsons and bought two of them. I think I saw them in one of the Youtube makeup tutorials that I watched and couldn't stop thinking about them. I like stains. I'm a big fan of the lip and cheek tint from Body Shop and I used to buy them when they still have those buy one take one promos every Christmas. Then I also tried the lip tint from FaceShop. When I was broke, I bought the dupes from Ever Bilena but the color pigmentation was nowhere near the first two so I didn't repurchase them.

When Revlon launched the Revlon Just Bitten Lipstain + Balm, I immediately bought one. Here's my review: click!. I ended up using only the stain because the balm was just too sticky especially since it's humid here in the Philippines.

First I want to talk about the packaging. It's a lot thicker than I thought it would be. I thought it would be the same size as the first Just Bitten stain + Balm but it's not. It's chubbier. I haven't seen a Clinique Chubby stick so maybe they're the same size? I dunno. You also get more product by twisting the silver part at the botton which is way better than lip pencils because you don't waste any product. That's one of my main issues with the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil and the Topshop Lip Pencils. Ang daming sayang kapag tinatasahan! It doesn't look cheap even though it's made of plastic. So that's that with the packaging.

The first color that I got was Sweetheart valentine. I haven't tried it on my lips yet but I'm going to do that tomorrow. I did swatch it on my arm and fell in love with the color. The best way to describe it is it's a warm wearable pink color. It leaves a bit of stain after I washed my arm and wiped off the balm part.

Swatch on the back of my hand. The color looks muted because of the glare of the sun.

I haven't used it on my lips yet but I can tell I'm going to love this product. I'll update this post with a face of the day using Sweetheart.

UPDATE: August 8 (6:30pm)

As promised, I used Sweetheart for my makeup today. I did my makeup at around 10:00AM (my work hours are from 11AM-7PM). The products I used are all detailed below. As of time of writing, I've been wearing this product for eight hours (no retouch) and I can still a faint color at the outer line of my lips. To be fair, I've eaten lunch (rice + squid adobo), drank tea and coffee, ate merienda (siopao) and brushed my teeth and IT IS STILL THERE! So I definitely give this product a thumbs up and would definitely recommend for pruchase (I've been doing that over Twitter and FB lol).

In summary, I like this product because:
- it stains like it said it would
- it moisturizes like it said it would
- color pigmentation is amazing!
- wide range of colors
- available in Watsons/SM
- relatively cheaper than its peers (Clinique chubby stick)
- twisty-thingy to get more product
