No, I haven't spoken to anyone - it isn't usually this bad - I just must be really tense at the moment. Normally eating slowly is good for me, so I don't worry :) - it's only when I'm being really silly it gets to be a problem.
I wonder though, is it perhaps not just psychological. You could have a real gag reflex issue or...we have something called the SALT team here, which helps people who have issues with this kind of thing. It is mainly a thing the elderly seem to suffer with but they work with ways to help combat the inability to swallow.
There might be something there you could try? I think perhaps you should have a chat with a doctor about it :)
It could be something to do with an overdeveloped gag reflex which just gets worse with tension I suppose - the majority of my mum's side of my family cannot swallow pills - just can't do it. Whole jug of water vs little pill - little pill wins.
I just seem to have developed it that one step further. Lucky me.
Soph had the same problem for a while - also caused by stress, but she managed to train herself out of it.
