Briefly Said

It's a little after nine. I just got back from meeting Maps_or_guitars for dinner, prior to his gig with Saint (not Street) Bastard at the Comet Tavern. I couldn't stay for the show. More's the pity, because I enjoyed the hell out of meeting the man ( Read more... )

It comes from woodworking. It's a kind of joint. I think it's the sort where you have two parts like this:

___
_\ /_where that's the positive contour of one part, and the negative contour of another, and you slide 'em together. I think that done right, it's a glueless and nearly permanant joining.

I have yet to meet a cuisine I haven't enjoyed, with the caveat that I've had enough contact with Meat n Potatoes Midwest fare to last me a lifetime. Zo, no more o' that.

You Zilzil my Tibbs, I'lleecha your kitfo, baby. ;)

The feeling's entirely mutual, Berb! A real pleasure, and a great way to kick off the tour. That whole night were a blast, and our deeeelicious Ethiopian dinner & convo were a fantastic start to it (and a grand finish to it, as well: the leftovers went down really good on the way back to Portland!)

I was all set to get all detaily about the dovetail term, but shatterstripes beat me to it.

Thanks again, and remember you've got an airmattress with your name on it when you hit Brooklyn.

Hey mister!

Welcome home (he said belatedly)!! And thank you very kindly for the invite. I plan on taking you up on that. There's some pizza we need to eat. And much more to discuss!

Now I'm gonna head over to your LJ and see (rather, read) how the tour went. How'd things go that night at the Comet?

The Comet was righteous. The band before us, Tractor Sex Fatality, was my favorite of the tour. I had a lot of old friends at the gig, and new ones: bigraoul for one. We played well. The crowd was small but enthusiastic: Couple'a young thangs even were dancing, even.

Overall, I think it was the best of the tour, or at least tied with SF.

Awesome Possum, mister!! *Still* must go to your journal and read of the whole tour. I was curious from the moment I dropped you off.

Seattle has a really enthusiastic music scene, from what I can glean. Even with the Age of Grunge being gone, people are seeking out new stuff and supporting the older stuff. We've got our problems but the arts community gets some decent support around here.
