An evening spent with my darling honeywuzzle, but not quite the one we'd planned

After the fabulous closing night of Lysistrata and a wonderful birthday party for surrealestate and DD's darling Tadpole, plumtreeblossom and I were crossing the street this evening when we were hit by a car. It was making a left turn into the street we were crossing; the driver had probably slowed for the turn but didn't seem to slow at all to avoid hitting us; he did pull ( Read more... )

Owie!

And from what I know about the US medical system, I hope the driver is paying for EVERYTHING!

Also, when you feel sore, or shaky, or whatever, take it easy. Take painkillers. Do NOT try to be a hero. That goes for both of you.

Yes, the bureaucracy is going to be a big hassle. The driver (probably through his insurance) should be liable for all of it, but the last time I was involved in a car accident I was rear-ended by a kid (with no license) who had taken his father’s car without permission, so the kid didn’t have insurance and the father’s insurance didn’t cover it because (at least as the father claimed) it wasn’t an authorized use by the owner of the car. Fortunately that time I was surrounded by a metal box and we didn’t need to go to the hospital.

A single-payer system would be very very nice.

Oh my gosh! Obviously, this is giving me flashbacks of my own experience. Thankfully the car was turning, at least, which forced it to slow down. I'm glad nothing too bad happened, but it still sounds like a hell of a way to spend the evening. Both of you feel better!

Thanks! Yeah, I was thinking of you and missdimple a lot - and very glad neither of us hit our heads! Wish you’d had as easy a time of it.

Egad! I'm glad you're not any worse off than you are.

I was also lucky when I got hit by a motorcycle a few years ago. Although I was thrown about 10 feet through the air and did land on my head, I was just a bit gimpy for a couple of weeks and only suffered a very mild concussion. I had to be talked into going to the hospital to check myself out.

I hope your bumps and bruises and plumtreeblossom's fracture heal quickly and with as little pain as is necessary!
