In my case, it was 'move out and make some place else feel like home.'

Same. (I still have weird moments when I look up to go someplace and realize I'm planning my movements according to the apartment I lived in ten years ago.)

Christmas Eve was in San Juan, and Christmas Day was spent in the Virgin Islands. I used my winnings in poker for the week to purchase a shiny new Movado watch.

To be honest, "home for the holidays" has never applied to me due to the familial situation. So, the holidays aren't a particularly wonderful thing for me, so I usually try to find something that I can enjoy around the holiday season. Usually by getting together with friends. It's one of the reasons why I enjoy serious relationships, because I get to go to someone else's family Christmas.
