I spent yesterday in the company of a Hero. Now, before you get images of someone running into a burning building to save a child trapped inside, or a doctor performing life-saving neurosurgery, let me set the record straight. None of that kind of heroics happened.

What I was privileged to see was the kind of heroism that doesn’t make the papers,

And that's only half of the story...the guy works in Corrections and is chronically under-equipped, definitely underpaid, and in constant danger from his surroundings.
