I was in the middle of "Study Drama 07: The Musical! (also a tragedy) Part 1" when the Network Up-fronts occurred, letting us know what had been canceled and what new shows we can look forward to in September. So now I'm going through the schedules and trying to pick the winners.

Right now I'm liking Dirty Sexy Money because of Peter Krause and ( Read more... )

I remember Anna from Rogue Trader with Ewan McGregor!
Jim Dale as the narrator... such a Carry of Fan - loved him since way back...
Swoozie Kurtz rocks....
And best of all...

The Pixie! Wooo hooo.... Bring on Kristen!

The producers have said that if they get a full season they will definitely do a musical episode! I can't wait ;-)

Tragically, nobody has leaked the pilot yet. It's driving me insane.

I like Anna Friel a lot, seems a long time ago since her days on Brookside (a UK soap) and the body under the patio... but this looks a bit cutsey and American for me. I don't know why, but I just can't stomach US shows. It has a very Ugly Betty vibe and although the premise is fun, I can't imagine it having much longevity.

Still, I heard we've bought it over here, so I'll give it a go as always. One day I might be impressed ! *g*

That's a shame because every once in a while the Yanks come up with something that is absolutely brilliant. Of course, when that happens, they have no idea what to do with it.

Interesting. It had more of a Tim Burton vibe for me.

I just find all US shows interchangeable - same format, same direction, same use of incidental music, same one dimensional characters played by pretty people. I've only ever loved two - My So-Called Life and The X Files and they were both so totally outside the box. I accept they're often very good indeed, but US shows just feel like watching something go past in a conveyor belt again, and again, and again.

I didn't get Tim Burton from this, the only show I can think of that had that vibe was Six Feet Under which was very off centre and quirky. This is sort of Ugly Betty meets Bewitched.
