I really didn't like the Dark Materials books. I read the first two and though they were ok but not great. The thing was when I bought them, the shop assistant said they were so great that if I didn't like them, she'd give me my money back. I didn't take her up on it, but I have to say that I expected more ...

I was expecting them to be more adult but the language and themes seem geared more towards young teens. I'm glad I only downloaded them.

Haven't read the books, but as far as Anna Nicole Smith:

I regard her death the way I do death of anyone that's had a pitiful life: I feel bad that they never got to do or be anything better.

I really enjoy the His Dark Materials books, but when I first read them I was in high school, so make of that what you will. I mean, I had a pretty high comprehension level for a high schooler, but still. Plus, I have a thing for fantasy books anyhow and I just love that universe. I preferred the first two books to the last, but the last one was still good. Of course, everyone has their own opinions, of course. I hope it does get better for you though. :)
